Has anyone else had the DVD freeze up on you when Aragorn is dragged off the cliff and beyond?

I checked Usenet and this is not an isolated incident.

I'm playing it on my DVD-ROM since the rest of my stuff is packed up.

Appart from the Ent's decission not to go to war, the Osgiliath incident and the worst designed fortress I have ever seen TTT is great even on the small screen.

Is it like a breif pause that happens for less than a second, maybe halfway through one of the disks?

If so, then that's just the layer change.

You put two seperate layers on one side of a disc so it can hold nearly twice as much data. But it also means that when the player switches reading one layer to the other, a slight pause (whose length depends on individual player models and DVD titles) occurs around the middle of the film usually (often where it won't be noticed very well or will be unobtrusive). Sometimes it's hardly noticable, but other times it's obvious.

You can tell a dual layered disc because they're gold rather than silver.

Since the LOTR films have two dual-layerd discs, you encounter two layer changes.

Got the movie last night for $14.87 at Walmart.

I have watched it twice now. Honestly, I enjoy watching LotR as much as, if not more than, I enjoy the original StarWars Trilogy.

*Ducks and covers as people try to kill him for having the movie on DVD, and for saying that the LotR movies are better than the SW movies.*
