Anyway, my vote goes to Harry Keogh from the necroscope novels. He's able to communicate with the dead and threw that gain all of thier knowleldge and even stocked up on borrowed pchyic powers. Not to mention he could raise the dead to protect him, teloport, and see the future.
Most oppenents he could just teloport into outerspace.

I personally think that Blade is the best Vamp Hunter of all time.

Sonja Blue is pretty kickass, but... Oh sweet baby Zeus, there's another Brian Lumley fan on the forum! Harry Keogh owns everyone.
* He can talk to the dead, not in a creepy "Sixth Sense" type of way, but in the way you talk to your friends. Any knowledge or skill they possess, they'll give him access to willingly. He's called upon dead martial artists to help him fight, dead engineers to show him where to plant demolition charges, and so on.
* He can call the dead up from their graves. Or rather, they'll rise to his defense themselves, because they want to. Opponents find themselves facing a full-on Night of the Living Dead horde, but to Harry they're just ordinary people who are his friends, and happen to be dead.
* He can teleport, by mentally opening a door into the "Mobius continuum" and stepping through. From the continuum, a sort of between-universes void, he opens a second door to his destination. He can go literally anywhere in the universe, assuming he knows where he's going. He can technically travel back in time via the continuum, but refuses to do so because he's afraid of creating a paradox. He literally steps out of the universe, and then back in, so no barrier can stop him.
* He uses the ability to open Mobius doors in actual logical ways. They're invisible to everyone except Harry, but anything can fall into them. So he'll use them as shields against bullets, or in one case a speeding car. He'll cause melee opponents to fall into them, and since they have no ability to navigate the continuum, they just spiral off into infinity.
* In the Necroscope fiction, people don't always receive all the psychic abilities they have the potential for. In the past Harry allowed a trusted dead friend or two to flip the "on switch" for latent powers he had the potential for. Nobody has all the "switches", so Harry couldn't become too godlike this way, but he did pick up telepathy and... something else... Been a long time.
In dire enough circumstances, "Get a nuke from the British government, and drop it in the enemy's lap from the safety of the Continuum" is a viable plan of attack for him.

Anita Blake. She actually uses modern firearms. That, and she has supernatural abilities as backup.

The Necroscope can use the Continuum to snatch up any weapon in the world, and deadspeak to find someone who's a master of it's use.

Otherwise, I vote for D.
He's the most tragic of Hunters, being a despised Dhampel himself, immortal and alone, unable to trust himself enough to form lasting bonds with others. And look at his nifty tricks! A parasitical Hand that feeds off anything he can suck into his mouth, as well as limited movement when severed from D.

Its called a Dai-katana or Nodaichi. It can be so long because its flexable, not because its so stong. Likewise, the katana can be shapened so much because its flexability prevents it from chipping.
A gemstone necklace that acts as a replusion/protectant versus vampirical minions. And the Vampiric Power of his father, Dracula King of Vampires, which dwarves the mental/magical abilities of any full-blooded Vampires that push D to that breaking point.

Oops, sorry about that failed quotation.
Anyways, if we were to expand this discussion to demon hunters in general, I'd have to weigh in with my favorite: Miyu. She may not look like much on the outside, but she's fast and strong, as well as being an accomplished pyromancer. In addition, she has her own little pocket dimension, which she seems to be able to create doorways into at will. She also seems to be able to partially or wholely draw other people into it too (like that thing Alucard did with those "Bonny and Clide" vamps). Oh, and Larva, her thrall, does that neato dicing thing, is very, very fast, and seems to be a bit telekenetic as well. And she always seems to be able to figure out the True Name of her enemy...

If we were really feeling sadistic, we could bring up Nathan Keogh during the brief period where he had the killing eye.SylasGaunt wrote:Which is partly why he's so damn dangerous. That mobius travel of his makes any kind of security a joke.

I wonder if the Dweller or late-series Nathan could invade it via the Continuum. Both of them could cross between dimensions, a trick Harry never picked up.Symmetry wrote:In addition, she has her own little pocket dimension, which she seems to be able to create doorways into at will.

That said, Harry never used this trick NEARLY as much as he should have. He ought to have been able to deal with Shaithis and Shaitan quite easily this way.

Actually Boone doesn't really know what it means at the end of the book. However unlike the movie version of nightbreed he does, use it to tear the police limb from limb with shadows, and protect the whole of the fleeing nightbreed from sunlight by building an area of shadow (this was him using just the then deceased Leesburg
Bahomet said he had all the powers and was now the Massiah and judge of all of the Vamps, werewolves, and other undead & demons. Is mission. Find somewhere where the assorted tribes could live in peace with man.
In a barker written comic, it was shown that boone could tap the powers of the Cenebites against their will....
What would happen if you Mobiused him, well one of the people that used to use the Mobius was turned into a vampire, and thus Boone could "Channel" those abilities.

What is the sorce of vampires in the nightbreed universe? And whats the origin of his powers? I'll be willing to fight he simply has every power of any vampire in fiction not to mention Necroscope vampires are symbiotic/parastic organisms from another world and prob nothing like nightbreed vampires.

While I suppose the continuum could be considered supernatural, accessing it is not a supernatural ability in and of itself. All it requires is the proper training, and the sort of math-genius mind that can blow through equations like a computer. The Yosemite Bear wrote:What would happen if you Mobiused him, well one of the people that used to use the Mobius was turned into a vampire, and thus Boone could "Channel" those abilities.
People with such minds are insanely rare of course, and since the originator of the technique is a dead man, those with access to the equations are few and far between.

Oh, she's almost certainly less powerful than Alucard and all the other heavies. I just brought her up because I think she's cool and reasonably balaced, not because she eats gods for breakfast...Well, she does sorta fight gods, but only in the Shinto sense, not in the Christian, Hindu, or even the Greek type of god; they're sorta more on a level with dryads and such.GrandAdmiralPrawn wrote:I wonder if the Dweller or late-series Nathan could invade it via the Continuum. If all the major Vampires refer to a hunter as "Death" or "The Executioner", then they should be considered Very Dangerous People.consequences wrote:Edward from the Anita Blake universe, un-augmented human that all of the major supernatural baddies refer to as 'Death'. Certainly not be the most powerful, but deserves an honorable mention. Also is intelligent enough to call in back-up if he feels he needs it.
Besides, Edward even scares Anita. Even scarier, Edward now has a family. You think Cops lose it when they have kids.... *shiver*
Still, I don't like how Anita's being written now. It's nearly all soft-porn.
