FLCL manga
If this belongs in JL, do go ahead and move it.
I got the first volume today and all I can say is...wow. It's even more bizarre than the series. It follows the same storyline arc, basically, while mixing up the chronology of the events considerably. It's also quite a bit more blatant than the series with sexual innuendo; at one point, the most obvious phallic symbol in the history of mankind sprouts from Naota's head. If you liked the series or just like good manga, go ahead and pick it up. I think you'll like but, but a repeat reading will be necessary.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

I saw it when I was in the mall today, but I passed it over in favor of completing my Neon Genesis Evangelion manga collection. I now have all seven volumes.

Looks very cheaply drawn.
Ooh, but it's "100% Authentic Manga style"

Well, it was serialized before the anime, so it is authentic.Dalton wrote:Looks very cheaply drawn.

The sketchbook look is just the artist's style.

Oh, I'm sure it's authentic. But the fact that Tokyopop slaps "100% Authentic Manga Style" around everywhere like some sort of catchphrase somehow annoys me. As if we're supposed to bow down and suck their cock for releasing it in the same format it was released in Japan.Durran Korr wrote:Well, it was serialized before the anime, so it is authentic.Dalton wrote:Looks very cheaply drawn.

OT Rant: Anyone else notice that the joker who did the cover design for volume 2 of the Bebop manga obviously didn't do their fucking research? They put one picture of Faye and one picture of a fucking character from the first segment of the fucking manga that kind of fucking looks like Faye!

Are you referring to the female reporter that looks somewhat like Faye? She's in the second volume, not the first.
I don't see much of a problem; they look similar but not impossible to differentiate.

I said "volume 2 of the Bebop manga".Durran Korr wrote:Are you referring to the female reporter that looks somewhat like Faye? She's in the second volume, not the first.
The cover was a profile on Faye. Volume 1 had Spike, 3 had Jet and all the pics matched up.Durran Korr wrote:I don't see much of a problem; they look similar but not impossible to differentiate.

Christ, calm down. It's just advertising, for God's sake.Dalton wrote:Oh, I'm sure it's authentic. So what if they advertise that their books are unflipped with a single stamp on the back of their volumes? I wouldn't call that "all over the place".
And we should consider ourselves so lucky that TokyoPop does puplish most of their manga unflipped. If only Dark Horse Comics had gotten the hint six or seven years ago...
I believe in a sign of Zeta.
