Full Metal Panic! The Mecha Syndrome...
In keeping with the mention of Big O smashig the overly artistic anima-style megadeuce, I nominate Full Metal Panic.
Partial Spoilers, but its not really going to surprise you, anyway.
In Episode 7, they've just got done unleashing the really big and cool new giant robot. Towards the end of the show, the grim but father-like commander is discussing the new super-technology with young Sousuke. He actually asks the boy if he ever though about the fact that the giant robots make no sense (technologically, that is)! He specifically describes it as being straight out of cartoons!
I think they are setting up the idea that this technology that drives the giant robots is really built on how people think things should work - their assumptions about the ideal fighting machine - rather than strict science.
In other words, magic.

I've never heard of this show, but maybe it's a prelude to someone building some tanks and pwning everyone.
If it is, tell me, and I'll start watching. Heh.

If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! All votes for me! Wheeee!" -- Lagmonster

Oh, and BTW, it has a villian who is the most amazingly lucky SOB I've ever seen.
Death 1) he was shot in the head from a sniper rifle. He already had a head wound, and a thick metal plate that made up his forehead saved him.
Right now, its patently obvious he;s survived being hit by "emotional power" attack that damn near made its own mushroom cloud. Oh, and he was at Ground Zero.
