I consider WWH to be in the same general ballpark of awesomeness, but that might be the fact that I keep it in the same mental space as "Planet Hulk". (And some fanfics I wrote and posted here ages ago. Planet Waaagh? Stop looking at me....!)

Although SCW is better :).

A reminder to everyone that GLC # 42 goes on sale tomorrow. IGN has uploaded their usual preview and now that an Indigo Tribesman has joined the fight, the battle to repel the Black Lantern assault on Oa just got a little more interesting...

Just reading the preview, and it seems that some of the other Lantern's homeworlds have already gone. Maybe its just me, but it seems a let down that only the GL survive (albeit Sodom Yat does) into the 31st century because they are simply the last one standing, and not because they didn't eradicate a few of the other corps. That being said I have a suspicion they will "assimilate" the sinestro corps based on the revised oath from the 31st century.

Only Zamaron has fallen thus far (in Green Lantern # 46), though Okaara looks to be next depending on how Atrocitus and Larfleeze's encounter goes. The assimilation of the Sinestro Corps is a theory Steve's been championing since Page 1, but even with the dialogue in LO3W, we still don't know the exact fate of the Corps -- yet, anyway.

Has anyone else picked up the Colored rings yet? All I have so far are Black Lantern Corps and Sinestro Corps.

Can I just say that I really don't get how Atrocitus is supposed to be even the tiniest of threats to Larfleeze? You know "I can kick the asses of a dozen Green Lanterns and guardians at once" Larfleeze?

If anyone gets the chance - pick up the R.E.B.E.L.S. Blackest night tie-in. It's a lot of fun.
Spoiler
With Stealth (Lyrl's mother) dead, she comes back and we also get Harbinger, this Vril, on the same side as the Sinestro corps, gets a Yellow Ring.....
FUN!

I normally collect R.e.b.e.l.s anyway and I loved the first part of the cross over.

Shame the black ring couldn't make a full skirt for Harbringer at least it included black knickers in the look.

Great ending Spoiler
Dox with a yellowpower ring, I didn't really see him with a yellow ring the outfit suits him but I'd think a green ring would make him so much more powerful

Keep in mind that we have no idea how the Red and Orange Lights will affect on another; this will be the first encounter. And the Red Lanterns' raw power might give Atrocitus a slight edge in going up against Agent Orange. So, we'll see.

Yeah. This was hands down Tomasi's single best issue and Gleason's best artwork.

I'm not even that pissed about Kyle's death because of how well written it was. 'Course, now we know why Guy gets the Red Ring...

Half the people I talked to was sure it was going to be Tora, lamentingly. Looks like she dodged the fridge on that one.

Re: "The Blackest Night" Talkback Thread (Spoilers)

I have additional thoughts on this week's TBN issues...
Spoiler
* Soldiers of Fortune: Again, I'm glad to see Vath and Isamot getting the limelight given Tomasi hasn't focused on them since taking over GLC.

* Last Stand at the Oa Corral: The final stand at the CPB was very well done. There's a sense of symmetry; remember, the climax of GLC: Recharge was a similar last stand at the CPB and against the Spider Guild. It gives the sense we're coming full circle in the saga.

* Operation Dumbo Drop: I liked that even in the middle of TBN, Tomasi is still continuing threads from throughout his run; it's a clever re-use of Vice against the Black Lanterns, which leads into...

* From Hero to Zero: Let this be the final nail in the Alpha Lanterns' coffin. The fuckers have been a time bomb waiting to go off for almost 2 years now (and which already detonated to an extent in Final Crisis). The Guardian's longing for a Manhunter 2.0 has backfired and I'm not sorry to see another one bite it, especially considering that his fuck-up indirectly killed Kyle.

* Fate of the Torchbearer: Again, I'm not pissed about Kyle's death...

A.) Because it was well written.

B.) I was wondering if Johns and company would be ballsy enough to off one of the Earth Lanterns; this is a serious blow.

C.) There's a chance for resurrection, especially given hints contained in the second spoiler box....

D. )I don't think we're going to see a Black Lantern Kyle. Kyle looked to be at peace in his final moments; I think he's gone the same route as Don Hall, but we'll see.

In addition, this week's Booster Gold was excellent. This is one of the resurrections I've been itching to see and it's a nice way to team up both Booster and Jaime.
Also, IGN has posted the February TBN solicitations...
Spoiler
1. It looks like GL # 50's cover wasn't artistic license; Hal's forced to unleash Parallax to combat the Black Lantern Spectre. Again, I like it. This is a sense of everything coming full circle with Green Lantern: Rebirth and the start of the saga.

2. For the Flash fans, the TBN: Flash solicitation is very interesting. This pretty much confirms what Johns hinted at in The Flash: Rebirth # 4 regarding the circumstances behind Professor Zoom's resurrection. If this pans out correctly, then the Thawne we're seeing in Rebirth was resurrected during the events of TBN; the good friend of Barry's he mentioned as being responsible is likely Hal. Thawne probably learns of Barry's own resurrection, and traveled back in time to enact his current plan of revenge. And if Thawne can return to the living, then there's hope for Kyle.

Spoiler
Guy's getting a Red ring? Damn. Fits though.

Actually, I'm also pondering now if because of Carol still being around or something if Soranik might end up with Violet. Remember that first Sapphire recruitment seen a couple years ago, it was a girl who'd just lost her love to an attack in space.

Spoiler
We've known Guy was getting a Red Ring due to cover art for November and December. We just didn't know the circumstances and what would piss off Guy so much. Now, we do -- and also whose ring it is.

As to your observation, it's possible. Miri survived the fall of Zamaron given she was chasing Kryb. A Soranik/Miri team-up would be fun.

Is it just me or is TBN living up to, nay, exceeding all expectations?

I mean, even the mini-series have been generally good so far, and the main books (TBN, GL, and GLC) have been a non-stop thrill ride.

If it keeps being this awesome our heads may explode by TBN #8.

Compared to the crash and burn of Final Crisis, this is a breath of fresh air and is definitely on par with the excellence of SCW.

So, now that we're in the second half, what does everyone want to see happen? Here's the big ones on my list....

* Resurrection Moratorium: No more resurrections would be ideal at this point; we're already on the verge of a burn-out ala the Skrull reveals.

* Paging Mr. Henshaw: I don't think there's room for the Manhunters and ol' Henshaw to appear, but here's to hoping. And we need payoff on the hints regarding the source of the Manhunters' malfunction during the Massacre of Sector 666.

* Krypto vs. Dex-Starr: This has been teased long enough. Bring on the Rage Kitty/Dog of Steel grudge match...

I keep hearing people clamouring that some of the Black Lanterns and people who die in this event should be brought back to life proper in the aftermath.

Frankly, I think they're delusional.

Frankly I think it will happen in a number of cases. Flash Rebirth is already hinting at it.

Ghetto Edit:
Spoiler
Internet Rage, and the Black Lanterns in the Prime Universe, this promises to be quite fun. The bit about the Three-boot legion getting a copy of Legion of Three Worlds was a nice touch too.

I kinda wish Prime had been left on the sidelines after LO3W, even though he's one of my favorite DC villains. This issue, however, was great; I'm really looking forward to next month's conclusion.

After reading the spoilers and what some people are thinking, I think this liliformers cartoon is so appropriate. Because the thought of combining the various powers of the emotional spectrum while obvious is also a bit of a cliche, but so far Sinestro corp wars, rage of the red lanterns and agent orange TPB have all entertained me, so I eagerly await the Blackest Night.
