The OotS thread

Re: The OotS thread
It's referring to Roy's trick of letting Elan trip over a plot.

Indeed. Once is funny - twice would be a bit stale, three times or more would smack of deus ex machina to the point of palling the story.LadyTevar wrote:It's referring to Roy's trick of letting Elan trip over a plot.

There's the comedic rule of 3. Second time isn't that funny, but the THIRD time...The third time you need to flout expectations.

Poor guy.
You'd think someone genre savvy enough to pick up on the Star Wars theme would do better than to tempt fate by saying that line.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers

Oh man, something has gone wrong when Belkar is the voice of reason over Roy. Like let's not attack that half dragon dude with the mace as big as I am.

5D6 points of lightning damage won't do squat. Sometimes, being a meatshield is great
By the way, i think that's why Belkar sent Roy first. He might have Evasion - but seeing Roy getting blasted (without actual harm) is just funnier.

Re: The OotS thread
Let's see, Roy has taken 32d6 damage from a Meteor Swarm at point blank range (2d6 per each of the rock-globes, then 6d6 fire from each), and survived. That's an average shot of 112 points of damage (assumes failed save. How do you Reflex save when you're riding on a dragon?).
Meteor Swarm Reference; Player's Handbook 3.5, page 253
The Half-Blue Dragon Ogre's breath weapon is going to be 6d8 or maybe 6d10 (if you're with a DM that increased the breath weapon damage dice with size. Very rare those). Or about 27 points of damage on average. (
Roy should be able to take 4 of those breath weapon blasts without a problem (even with failed saving throws). And Half-Dragons can only use their breath weapon once per day.
Half-Dragon Template Reference; Monster Manual, page 146. (I can't believe Lady Tevar got the damage wrong)
I hope that's not the reptiles only close range damaging attack, otherwise, they could have problems.
Especially when Belkar turns from his drink and Sneak Attacks the big blue guy. He is flanking him after all.

I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.
It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

I don't think that's what they're planning on...or rather, what Belkar's planning on. He's going to go ahead and follow them when they scarper, just like he originally suggested.Solauren wrote:Let's see, Roy has taken 32d6 damage from a Meteor Swarm at point blank range (2d6 per each of the rock-globes, then 6d6 fire from each), and survived. Their are feats, class features and spells that alter the effect and damage, so it could of been more than normal.

I think it can get Maximized and empowered, and a couple of dice added, if it goes through the necessary hoops.
