The main party's dedicated killing machines just got put into a series of pit fights as a punishment. The only reason why their sentence will be up 'in a week' is because the country will have run out of gladiators.
What is Project Zohar?

I'd not be so sure - remember the Oracle predicting Belkar's desth within a year ? There could be some high-level gladiators around, his time might be up soon (and Roy could use the frequent-dying miles).

I'd not be surprised if Tarquin still orders their execution in the arena, but pays for their resurrection afterwards. He's lawful, after all, and the Empress might like to watch some sport event.

Would be a perfect way to the "Belkar dies" prophecy - then again, he said that "Belkar will draw his last breath", so resurrection should be out of question?

Personally, I think Belkar will die and not want to be resurrected, after his soul is scooped up by the IFCC and given legions of angels to kill.

Hmm. A random thought here but we know Belkar's going to die soon and now we have a new prominent, slightly evil character getting a lot of page time and jokes... And a name. He's also a bounty hunter, meaning he's got a fair chance of being a decent tracker, which is typically Belkar's official role in The Order Of The Stick.

Sooo... Gannji possibly replacement member of the OotS?

There are magic items where you don't need to breath you know.

Belkar could get one of those too.
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Except the oracle specifically said Belkar would be dead. Popping his clogs, shouldn't bother with life insurance. Etc. Certainly sounds like Belkar is going to MacBeth Technicality his way out of this.

I can't see Belkar rejecting any noblewoman's amorous advances but then he's clearly not cast as the protagonist here. :D

Is it just me or has the Gladiator-shape-whipper-upper taken a few levels of bard? He certainly knows the tropes!

As long as he's been there, he's probably BEEN a trope or two, as well as Seen Them All.

Still, Belkar's setting himself up as the Bully Who Gets Dead.

You know, we all talk about Beklar dying but none of us talk about the fact that V is going to die too, and that Beklar will technically be responsible for it.

No, he killed the oracle (who then got a raise dead). That satisfied the prophecy.

How does that satisfy it? He asked if he's going to cause the death of Miko, her horse, Roy, V and the Oracle. So far he's technically caused the death of everyone but V so it stands to reason that he's going to be connected to V's death somehow as well.

No, the question was:
Belkar wrote:Do I get to cause the death of any of the following: Miko, Miko's stupid horse, Roy, Vaarsuvius, or you?
http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0331.html

He was rather irritated about not finding out which.

And so far he's caused the death out all of but Vaarsuvius, so it figures that somehow Vaarsuvius will die with a reason that's linked to Belkar.

But the prophesy only states that he'll kill at least one. There's no guarantee that he'll kill Vaarsuvius. Besides, as noted in the comic, his ties to the death of the others (besides the oracle himself) ranged from 'iffy' to 'tenuous' to 'complete bullshit.' If Belkar causes the death of Vaarsuvius, I will be quite surprised.

I'm not saying it will be a direct link, I'm just wondering why no one ever has theories on when Vaarsuvius will die, especially since from the sounds of it, we only know that Elan and probably Haley will have a happy ending.
