I'm not sure that Eric was attempting to adapt. In season one it looked as if he was succumbing to a similar ennui that killed Godric (he was content to just sit on a throne in a shitty dive bar.) Sookie, as I see it, was the catalyst which lit a fire under Eric's ass to start adapting. Ever since season one he's become more and more active and progressive, in his appearance and otherwise.

This episode felt weird to me, but after the extreme awesome of the last episode that's not really a surprise. I wasn't totally sold...

Then Russel ripped a man's spine out on live national television and True Blood won my love again.

-Bill seems to be speaking in caps less lately.
-V seems to heal weres better than regular humans. We know they run hotter, too - maybe they metabolize it faster.
-As always, True Blood delivers the manflesh.
-This confirms it. Lafayette's going to be either a babalorisha or a houngan. Which will make him a sassy gay magical negro, which is an awesome combo.
-Sam has one helladark past.
-Russel's master plan is apparently murdering hookers?

Is it me or is Terry just about the best goddamn person on the planet? I'm not all the way through the episode yet, but his 'surround the baby with love' speech was awesome.

Pretty much, yeah. I think he's the only character to have not been given some terrible moment of weakness or darkness so far, beyond the scars from his war service.

Terry had me at, "I never killed anything by accident." Or maybe even further back when he held Lafayette when Lafayette was freaking out. He's awesome.

True Blood seems to emphasize trauma. The thing about Terry is that he can't get any more traumatized, so he's pretty much immune to a lot of what the show does to characters.

Yeah, Terry is awesome.

Oh Eric....just when she was about to start speaking to you again.....this whole season has been about Sookie getting lied to and manipulated by both Eric and Bill. Pam was also awesome. Her name...did anybody get her full name? It sounded great.

Speaking of Eric, I think throwing Sookie in the dungeon complete with manacles...Holy crap. I didn't think he would stoop to that level.

Jessica throwing the little dog was perfect.

So apparently we now know how sam got all that money.

Bill is definitely the best impromptu speech maker I have ever seen.

Arlene....still trashy, still loving it.

To add to this:

- Okay, so Sophie Ann thought Sookie's blood would allow her to stay longer in the sun. Apparently, one needs less diluted blood for that.
- Sam killing the guy off - yeah, sure, you are not a psychopath, sammy-boy.

Obligatory footage for everybody:

I especially love the stuff at the end.

Her full name was Pamela Swinford de Beaufort, and I agree, Terry has been one of the best side characters in the show, he doesn't get much screen time, but when he does it's always good, whether he's holding Lafeyette or singing to Arlene's baby.

A good episode, it just felt a little weak after last weeks episode.

It not only borrows words from other languages; it has on occasion chased other languages down dark alley-ways, clubbed them unconscious and rifled their pockets for new vocabulary. “

I thought it was a fine episode, you need a break between the peaks so you can appreciate them all the more.

Strange name for a prostitute. She may have chosen it because she did not like her earlier name though.

Though I do have to agree that this strange name is a bit fitting for her.

Having read the books, I can see exactly where they're going with both Eric and Bill constantly screwing with Sookie. And I have to say, it's going to make a brilliant end to the third season.

Also, pit bulls are not little dogs by any stretch. Which, of course, makes it more hilarious when Jessica chucks Tommy like a rotten tomato. :D

You know, I've seen guys chucked to the side before, but never that... literally.

Very nice episode.

I wonder if they are going to change the storyline any from the novels to reflect the real life marriage between Sookie + Bill's actors.

I really doubt this has any impact on what Alan Ball is planning.

I loved it when Pam got in Eric's face with, "What would you have done to save Godric?"

Pam's loyalty to Eric is awesome.

Something occurs to me.

We've seen the various 'Animorphs' (i.e True Shifters, Were's) using animal like senses, and behaviours at times.

i.e Sam + Tommy's smell alerting them to the Werepanthers entering the bar, the one male werewolf sniffing Sookie really deeply, etc.

Combine that with Tommy's behaviour regarding Jessica + Hote (did I spell that right?), and the revelation about Sam's past.

Could it be that the various 'Animorphs' have a animal side they struggle to control?
Tommy's behaviour is clearly an attempt to mark his own territory within his brother's domain. (i.e Jessica)
Sam's behaviour in the 'flash back', could be considered consistent with an abused animal trying to get back in to good graces, followed by a violent outburst when he fails.

Maybe Sam's been able to keep it 'under check' since the 'incident', Tommy hasn't learned, and that's affecting things.

Oh, and Tommy needs to be taught not to hump everything that moves. Neutering usually does that (grin)

I think that Sam, Tommy and the were-panther tribe are all dysfunctional logically from their circumstances, supernatural natures notwithstanding. Sam was abandoned at an early age and became a criminal. Tommy has been abused regularly throughout his entire life and the were-panthers are just asshole hicks it seems.

Which wouldn't have saved her if he had gone straight for the kill. Oh, and Yvetta...man, for a one note character she was surprisingly well drawn in the end.

Poor Sookie.

Eric, you are bad-ass.

Too bad he didn't have a gun with silver or wooden bullets in it to. Now just turn and plug the bastard, then run back inside.

Russell should go up much quicker than Eric if Godrics death is anything to go by so he could still survive, wouldn't want to lose a character like Eric from the show.

He's a good foil for Bill and Sookie.

Eric is (arguably) the most popular male character on the show. There's no way they would kill him off.
