Just thought of something. Please describe the way the Vamp hunter kills the suckerheads. You know stuff like the weapons, and skills that he or she has. And in their unverse, does silver kill the vamps.

Alucrad? Usually dismembering them with his pistols o' doom or ripping them apart with his shadow dogs. Of course Freaks and Ghouls just get a bullet.

Blessed silver burns them, but it's easily recovered from by Vamps such as Alucard or Victoria.

He's also more than capable of rending them apart or punching holes through them with his bare hands. (in the manga he actually can sprout multiple hands - about a dozen or so.) Presumably he could also burn them to ash or tear them apart with TK if he so chose.

EVERY media?? Therefore, am I admitted to nominate a vampire hunter from a black/death metal band's lyrics?
Thats a toughie, when I said every media I meant TV, books, comics, and movies. Because you can see or imagine what they are doing. But the same goes for songs as well but only if the songs describes the way in which the Vamp hunters kills them.
Then I'll say Joachim Blokk from "Thwarted By The Dark" by Bal-Sagoth.

The lyrics/liner notes do say something about him:

The Contemplations Of Joachim Blokk: "As my sword drips black now with the unclean blood of another slain fiend, it occurs to me that history will most probably record me a fanatic...
as for more years than I care to remember I have dedicated my life to the caseless pursuit and destruction of the loathsome undead. Indeed, it was long ago that I commenced with the wreaking of my grim vengeance upon the denizens of the dark, and by the blade of my sorcerous katana, Fiend's Bane, I vow they shall all pay for taking my beloved from me! Fanatic?
Mayhap. But by all the gods of vengeance, I'll leave a fearsome legacy 'ere I die... a legacy wrought in retributive bloodshed and screaming terror!"

Somebody who waxes that poetically about hunting vampires simply deserves credit.

My personal favorites are Blade and Buffy.

Blade was just cool, he destroyed vampires enmasse, and once a movie, once his sunglasses were retrieved, he went on a killing spree.

Buffy, whilst being naturally able to slay vampires, what with birthright and all, still acomplished a lot more, stopping some 8 apocalypses, and all while having a vague wit.

I would like to mention Angel as well, as he had the most potential coolness with his crew.

The Astronaut turned Psi-vamp/Vamp hunter from Colin Wilson's space vampires. Sure he could consume the population of earth if he wanted too, (Like the Female Psi-vamp that turned him tried to), but no, he chooses to live in Switzerland, banging a massive harem of chicks he has taken from the streets and brothels and turns their life around, in exchange for a little bit of their life energy. (They live longer then they would have if he hadn't interviened, live better after he's stolen a couple years off their lives, and he can keep his little cult because he has blackmail info/MI owes him big time)

Im going to be really sad and geeky and say my favourite Vampire Hunter is Robert Neville from I am Legend.

Probably the most human Vampire Hunter of the bunch.

Okay... how'come no one's mentioned Simon from Castlevania yet?!

Otherwise, I vote for D.
He's the most tragic of Hunters, being a despised Dhampel himself, immortal and alone, unable to trust himself enough to form lasting bonds with others. And look at his nifty tricks! A parasitical Hand that feeds off anything he can suck into his mouth, as well as limited movement when severed from D. The longest longsword I've seen (well, maybe Sephiroth of FF7), that is obviously made of very strong metal. A gemstone necklace that acts as a replusion/protectant versus vampirical minions. And the Vampiric Power of his father, Dracula King of Vampires, which dwarves the mental/magical abilities of any full-blooded Vampires that push D to that breaking point.

I'm going to be even geekier and say Abraham Van Helsing. Sure, all these other guys could physically kick his wrinkled old ass but what the hell, I like the classics.

Man, you guys suck. :P

Soma Cruz? Ha!
Simon Belmont? Don't make me laugh!
Alucard? A pansy!

Everybody knows that the greatest vampire hunter of them all is Julius Belmont, the guy who really killed Dracula. No fooling this time! All the other Belmonts just did their part to keep him away for a century or so, but that wasn't good enough for our man J....nope, he killed Drac good, so that Chaos had to pick somebody entirely knew to inherit the vampire lord's powers.

I'd say finally killing the sonofabitch qualifies him as the best of the lot.

Ricther Belmont (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night)- called the most powerful Belmont has to count for something

Raziel (Legacy of Kain) - the unkillable little demon is powered by raw, anti-vampire energies (glyph power)
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know...tomorrow."

Definitely agreed. For such a quiet and inhuman character, he's got a lot of depth, motivation, and qualities relatable to the audience.

Where were you in that old "D vs Yoda" thread? :P We could have used an extra person to reiterate just how D is able to defeat vampires. :)
