Sufficient. From it, I can pull a few things.
1) 2-6 MDC is nowhere near Kiloton in any of those examples.
2) The energy pistol example makes me shake my head. The damage looks like it could be a kW-level laser, but what sort of retard doesn't carry something less ridiculous?

anyhow, IIRC someone mentioned that a certain value was equivalent to a pound of TNT. It should be noted that in this particular instance, its easy to scale "low end" damages with the high end - bombs typically only deliver a fraction of their yield (ignoring inefficiencies and certain other factors) and this can be further "reduced" because the bomb is not delivering its energy in a concentrated discharge (like a projectile, or a lightsaber) but spread over a very large surface area - so the intensity becomes a huge factor (energy per squre cm, mm, or less. Lightsabers IIRC Dark Force Rising, make microscopic cuts.)

Actually, those examples were used to show why it's a good idea to carry normal S.D.C. weaponry. That, and the fact that many places don't allow you to carry the big stuff around their streets.
Of course, there are the occasional MDC creatures that are good eatin...

How would you eat something like that, btw... MDC - damage teeth?

The character whirls around and blasts it with with his mega-damage handgun, inflicting two (2) M.D.! The animal is torn in half by the blast and the medium size tree behind it is also split in half and falls over toward the character(it berely misses him). Behind the tree is a volleyball size swath cut through the bushes, some 50 yards long. At least the character has enough of the deer left to provide food for several days....
Let me get this straight: it takes 2 mega-damage points to blow a deer in half (leaving enough meat to have food for several days), knock over a tree and blow up some shrubbery, and you figure that's supporting evidence for "kiloton range" weaponry?
For a time, I considered sparing your wretched little planet Cybertron.
But now, you shall witnesss ... its dismemberment!

Maybe if we added a NJO twist and the deer was immune to the force, sprayed acid and had armored fur..

Depends on how tough the "protection" is I suppose, and what kind, if any, Telekinetic abilities the opponent have. Weapons are probably close (well, its possible the Jedi lightsaber is an order of magnitude or so powerful, but not much more beyond that I suppose.)
Connor MacLeod wrote:Offhand I might guess megajoule range.
There are some rough calcs on SB that agree with you. IIRC it worked out to about 2.5 megajoules per MD.
I am assuming the Cyberknights weapons operate on damage mechanisms that rely on energy rather than the momentum of the shot (EG like a lightsaber - it would melt/burn through rather than shear or cut like a metal sword.) I sdont know anything about the Cyber Knight's weaponry, so its really all just pure guesstimate. If the Cyberknight weapons relies on any degree of momentum to inflict damage (like a bullet or a metal sword), then the "energy per damage point" method doesn't really work out.
