When his brother flew up to catch him, he didn't lose his powers, so no go on the draining as of yet.neoolong wrote:Uh, Rogue? Amazo?Molyneux wrote:I can think of maybe three characters - Mimic, Synch and Parasite - from Marvel and DC who've had any kind of power-imitating ability.
It'd be interesting to see if he drains the powers, or if he can simly mimic them.

You are correct, sir; Parasite drains life energy and powers along with them, in both the cartoon and the comics.neoolong wrote:Perhaps. But, doesn't Parasite also kind of steal people's powers? Or was that only in the cartoon?Molyneux wrote:I didn't think of Rogue for precisely that reason - it's not imitating so much as stealing. (I also tend to think of the green-and-yellow spandex, Ms. Marvel-powered version of her rather than the current version; I blame the X-Men cartoon.)
That given, power-mimics of any kind (stealing or non-) are something of a rarity. Everyone and their dog has superstrength and flight in DC (often along with invulnerability), psionic-based powers are a dime a dozen in Marvel (Professor X, Jean Grey, X-Man, Cable, and the Invisible Woman come to mind), and "big guys who hit things" are never a rarity in any superhero comic. Hell, even shapeshifters (a faction woefully underrepresented in superhero fiction) outnumber power-mimics - offhand I can think of Morph, the Impossible Man, Mystique, Wolfsbane, Man-Wolf, She-Hulk, Martian Manhunter, Miss Martian, Beast Boy, that orange guy from the Legion of Superheroes...

Parasite, Lamprey, Rogue, the Super Adaptoid, and the Absorbing Man are the only power mimics that spring to mind. The Adaptoid and the Absorbing Man are the most like what we see in Heroes.Molyneux wrote:You are correct, sir; Parasite drains life energy and powers along with them, in both the cartoon and the comics.

And Synch. Don't foget poor, grenade-diving Synch.

Supernatural Taisen - "[This Story] is essentially "Wouldn't it be awesome if this happened?" Followed by explosions."
Reviewing movies is a lot like Paleontology: The Evidence is there...but no one seems to agree upon it.

I was SO pissed when they killed off the character...I always thought he was the one gen X-er who would end up leading an X-Men team later on, or something. I mentioned him in my first post - aside from the Exiles Mimic (about whose death I'm very skeptical, given his possession of two potent healing factors and, if I remember correctly, psionic powers copied from Marvel Girl), he's my favorite power-mimic.Majin Gojira wrote:And Synch.
