The theme from what I understand was done by U2.

Not that bad, composition-wise, but marred by the ugly designs.

Too bad you can't judge animation quality from OPs.

Oh, and Bruce's head looks like a lumpy apple from an angle...

Bah. It's an MTV video and the Joker, Penguin, and Mr. Freeze designs are still hideous.

The theme song is kind of catchy, but not for the opening theme of a Batman cartoon.

Oh, and the animation is even worse when in movement. That one shot of Bruce, with Alfred? His face looked like he subbed for DeNiro in Raging Bull.

Batman's design in this doesn't bother me that much, since it puts me in mind of his original comic design. Just about all of the villians... bleh. I would]/i] like the Mr. Freeze design... if it wasn't supposed to be Mr. Freeze.

On a side note, I saw most of the toys yesterday. Usual assortment of Batman in different costumes, and one Joker figure. And damn, the Joker looks worse in 3D than as lineart.

The only good thing is the Batcave playset, which is over 3 feet tall. I think it's scale is compatable with BTAS figures, too.

Even the one good Batman figure in regular outfit has that stupid thing stuck to his arm.

Even the Mattel one was better than that.

I have to say though, that they seem to be falling into the same rut as Mattel and Hasbro. Tons of Batman variations and one villain. At least the Joker isn't supposed to be shortpacked this time.

The Batmobile is. And looks kind of neat too. Though the open top is a bit dumb I thought.

It does resemble the bug-eyed look of Owlman from the Earth 2 storyline.

Okay, because I had been meaning to do this for a while, here is a complete comparison (excluding Joker and Penguin since I already did them) of the Timm-style characters vs. the JCA-style characters:

Quick key:

BTAS = Batman: The Animated Series
TNBA = The New Batman Adventures
BB = Batman Beyond
JL = Justice League
TB = The Batman

Bruce Wayne/Batman

(Okay, so it's not Bruce as Batman in BB, but I had to include it anyway)

Funny, that character art even manages to make the BTAS Batman look crappy when compared to the actual show...

I remember that a big reason I disliked TNBA was because how they butchered the women like catwoman and poison ivy where the drawings BTAS were superior :)

I liked robin a lot as a kid though, much better than that retarded kid in TNBA .

BTW, that picture of bruce wayne/batman doesn't do btas justice

I always hated the bizarro Catwoman design from TNBA :x, and I really really hate the fugly jackie-chan Batman look. Specially the costumeless-one.

Alfred is Kinda Crappy(TM)

Joker: I am utterly speechless.

All the others are just meh. In fact Catwoman is an improvement over TNBA, I couldn't care less about Freeze.

And JME2, you should find a picture of BB Bruce with the power armor he used in that episode where he teamed up with McGuiness against that ink blot lady.

IMO the Joker is actually Batman's ultimate foe. It is because the Joker's psychosis forces him to constantly fight Batman, and because his style complements Bats' in a way that no one else can. Batman usually defeats his enemies by outsmarting and outplanning them. The Joker defies these attempts because he is an inherently unpredictable commodity. This throws Batman off his rhythm and generally forces him to beat the Joker down with his fists. The Killing Joke is a good example of this--Batman believes that his conflict with the Joker will inevitably end with one them being dead. He doesn't say this about any other enemy.

The Joker gets under Batman's skin in a way that no other villain can.

The Bat-armour from "Disappearing Inque". The best moment in the episode comes when Bruce activates it as the classic BTAS theme swells in the background.

ToonZone was probably toning down how much he hated the cartoon. Hopefully this tragedy will not last the season.

Why is it that Bruce Wayne looks like Jacky Chan?
