Justice League Cartoon

Post by Superman »

Since my lame ass cable company doesn't give us the Cartoon Network, I rented some episodes of the Justice League cartoon. This cartoon really does kick ass. I like it. My only complaint is that they scaled Superman down way too much (this is understandable, I guess since Superman could do everything on his own that the entire team does).

Very good cartoon! Who else likes it!

It's has a Kid's WB flavor that I despise

Batman The Animated Series (in its Fox Kids days) was one of the best cartoons ever. It wasn't the infantile crapola that most other stuff was (and is).
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

I only dislike how the heros have to be dumb for the villain to accomplish anything. I mean how many times can Hal jordan get gasses and not be ready for it the next time.

I like it. Some eps are better than others, but it's overall a good series (favorite epsidoe has to be the one with the "Earth 2" crossover. It was just to much fun!)

For some reason, I just don't like Superman's new voice.

I like it. The two parter where Flash, Stewart, Jon, and Hawkgirl were taken to an alternate Earth and met a group of heros that seemed very similar The JSA.

I was just thinking of that one, it's quite funny where the flash points out "are there only 2 cops in this town?"

My favourite eps would have to be the two-parter with the amazons and Hades, it's got a decent dark mythic feeling to it all. Plus a big demon at the end.

I watch it occasionally and I agree with you with the superman thing. He is such a pussy now and just about everyone except for maybe the flash could beat him now. For cripes sakes wonder woman is much better than him now that they could both fly, both are at least equal in strength (actually some shows showed her stronger than him) and then she has those crazy braclets.

fantasy doesn't have an edit button? Well just a little more on, that green martian guy with his phase ability should be just about invincible but for some reason he still gets beat up every episode.

Aside from my problem of them reducing every member of the league to levels whichI can see Batman taking them down with a bunch of Batarangs(Superman is so pussified)...it the personalities.

1. WW is the Rookie and Hawkgirl the veteran?
2. JOHN STEWART?!...the lack of imgination of his power ring also doesn't help.
3. Martian Manhunter is basically Kitty Pryde with TP power.
4. Flash is way too slow...heck makes Wally's early days look quick.

I will say I liked some of the stories and whatnot...but the biggest problem I have is they want stories of the characters...and honestly Justice League was never about that(except J'ohnn) I was about literally the greatest earh heroes against the worst the universe can offer; not Superman unable to do squat and needing the league to rescue him(and Bats is way too good...hell I begin to wonder why he assembled the team...should be BATMAN & the jl.)

They probably write the stories in this way for the fact that it makes the show better than just a "bad guy of the week sends numerous hordes against the JL but gets stomped anyway" style.

Besides, aside from Batman and Superman, none of the other characters are very established. The Flash was only in one Superman episode, and the GL who was in Superman was Raynor (the episode where Kyle got the ring and he and Supes had to fight Sinestro).

A few points:
A) I like John Stewart more than Raynor.
B) Better to underpower the League than overpower them.
C) The comics do not have to be followed to a T. This is a different form of media, it has different needs to be entertaining. Otherwise you'll end up with something like the 70s-80s version of the League. :?

The Hawkgirl/Stewart thing is weird. As is the Batman/WW thing they seem to be hinting at.

The only problem I have with this series is that there isn't enough Solomon Grundy, and when he does appear he doesn't have the same classic feel as the SG from the original Justice League.

For example, he never punctuates his sentences by breaking things.

I still prefer the old Dark Batman from Fox.

I find Justice League to be alright, I still find it a little mind bending at times. (Like when Flash ran across water to an American Fleet in the middle of the atlantic) But it does have some really good episodes at times.

Justice League is alright. Its not as good as X-Men Evolution or Samurai Jack.

But since it was brought up, Batman the Animated Series was easily one of the best cartoons, ever. The voices were perfect (David Warner, Mark Hamill, Batman's VA, Ed Asner, etc), every episode with the Joker was a classic (the one where some fat guy owed him a favor and years later he kidnaps him for the favor, which turned out to be just opening a door for Harley. "Thats...that all you want me to do?" "Just look at the size of that cake man! You think little Harley can open it on her own!?"), it turned villains like Clayface and Clock King into respectable villains, and it had such a great soundtrack to it, done by the same composer who did Space: Above and Beyond.

It won an Emmy for writing for a reason. End of rant :P

That was a good episode, and I can't even remember any truly bad episodes, though there weren't up to the standards of the rest.

Yes, Mark Hamill's Joker is one of the best animated villains, if not the best, ever. My favorite is the episode where he escapes from prison to punish the Casino builder :) Another good one is the mind reading blackmail psychologist, where he's going to throw the Doc out of a plane.

And who can forget the Joker Fish one? The commercial he forced Harley Quinn to do was priceless

The plane breaks and crashes "Darn Deregulation, not good for the buisness"

Of course there was always the dialouge between the villains

"Two-Face: Poison Ivy.
Poison Ivy: It's been a long time, Harvey. You're still looking halfway decent.
Two-Face: Half of me wants to strangle ya.
Poison Ivy: And what does the other half want?
Two-Face: To hit ya with a truck.
Poison Ivy: We used to date.
Joker, Penguin, and riddler I think : Ah."

One thing I don't like is Green Lantern. In Superman Animated, they went to lengths to explain to that GL that he was chosen instead of some great hero-type guy was because he was a cartoonist, with a big imagination and such and such. But this Green Lantern is some ex-special forces whose only ring uses are "put on a forcefield" and "beat the crap out of somebody" :P
