Question about Freddy and Jason [no spoilers]

Post by Shadow WarChief »

basically, I want to see Freddy v.s. Jason in theaters, but before I do, I want to formulate my own opinion about who should win the fight. However, I have neither the time nor the patience to sit through the dozens of hours of footage, so my question is this: Can I get a good enough estimation of the two serial-murderers' abilities by watching the first movie they were in?

2nd question: In which movie does Jason make his debut?

in answer to the first question:ehhh....sorta but not really. I mean Jason dies in part 4 and comes back as an indestructable zombie in part 6. Freddy always has new powers in each film. If i were you i'd watch F13 part 6 or 7--7 shows Jason's stamina more, as he is shot at, electrocuted and crushed by buildings and still keeps on coming. Freddy is pretty much the same throughout all the films, and Freddy vs Jason drops the ultra-elaborate FX-dreams that became the gimmick of all the Freddy sequels, so its probably all right to stick with the first Nightmare on Elm Street film, as the FvJ Freddy is based on the original film.

and Jason appears in Part 2, although he doesnt take on his familiar appearance until part 3. He wears a burlap sack with one eyehole cut out in part 2, a la The Town That Dreaded Sundown, and in part 3 he finally dons the hockey mask.

Jason: Unkillable, undead psycho in a hockey mask, Jason simply will not die! No matter what you do to him; shoot him, set him on fire, stab him, drop a building on him, he just won't die. He has incredible strength (we have seen him crush skulls with his bare hands and punch right through people) and amazing stealth. He can move without making a sound or being seen, though he is not actually invisible. He is known for being especially brutual in his tactics, and has been known to turn gardening tools into lethal weapons. Jason never stops to rest or sleep, he never does anything else than just kill. His MO involves killing people who are making out, having sex, using drugs or doing other basically stupid things.

Freddy: The stuff nightmares are made of, Freddy basically comes after you in your nightmares. Inside the nightmares, Freddy can more or less do whatever he wants to once he is in the dream world. He can change into anything, manipulate the world around you. His MO is to come after you in your dreams, and often, to use your deepest fears against you. He can't be stopped by normal means inside the dream world and he will always get you as soon as you go to sleep.

I say watch Friday 6 and either Freddy 1 or 2. Preferibly 2 to see how powerful Freddy could be in the real world. Just keep in mind the fight in fvsj is more hth in the rw without the dream powers.

To answer your question: no. Jason makes his first appearence in the second "Friday the 13" movie but does not become the unstoppable killing machine that he is until about the fifth movie. This is when he comes out of the grave and returns as a zombie. Up until the fifth movie, he could be stopped (I remember Jason being afraid of a chainsaw in the third movie) because he was not yet undead. As of now, he is very different than his early incarnations. I would suggest this: Watch part 7 (The New Blood), and part 5 (A New Beginning). Part five will show you how he becomes what he is now. Avoid "Jason Goes to Hell" and "Jason takes Manhattan" like the plague.

As for Freddy, the original movie with Johnny Depp was great. I would suggest it just because it was so good. Also, watch "The Dream Warriors" to get an idea of what Freddy is and what he is capable of. Avoid "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" because it sucked so much.

So here you are:

Friday the 13th parts 5 and 7.

Nightmare on Elm Street and part 3.

Oh shit, my bad. I meant PART 6 INSTEAD OF PART 5. Ok? Just checked my collection. I meant part 6. This is the movie that features Jason returning from the dead. Watch it.

Part 5 is just a copycat serial killer pretending to be Jason. Part 6 he comes back from the grave. I would recommend part 7 perhaps a little more because it shows Jasons stamina more clearly. Avoid Jason Takes Manhattan, that film just sucks.

Yeah, "Jason takes Manhattan" was beyond stupid. Don't waste your time.

Where did he first appear in Jason goes to Hell, in part 8 before that he was dissolved in toxic waste.

He has incredible strength (we have seen him crush skulls with his bare hands and punch right through people) and amazing stealth.

In part 8 he let a guy punch him 50 times, then asked him to punch him, and he punched his head off.

Not always though, I brought this up in another thread, he killed that girl in Jason X who wasn't, by smashing her face after he froze it solid.
Freddy: The stuff nightmares are made of, Freddy basically comes after you in your nightmares. Inside the nightmares, Freddy can more or less do whatever he wants to once he is in the dream world. He can change into anything, manipulate the world around you.
Spoilers ahead

No one really won Freddy vs Jason, Jason defeated but not killed him, and was still alive when he was carrying his head, and it wasn't even Jason that decapitated him.

probably, seeing as the reason Jason returns to life is that Tommy digs the corpse up during a storm, causing it to be hit by lightning and therefore mysteriously come alive...yeah, i guess everyone knows that logic and reason arent part of the Jason universe.
