Okay, this is propably a stupid question considering I claim to live in the DC universe, but what would you comic buffs consider recommended/required reading WRT the DC universe/the Batman subset thereof, especially were DC's graphic novels are concerned?
I already have Batman:Absolution and Bruce Wayne:Murderer, and intend to buy both 'Bruce Wayne:Fugitive' when they come out here, but what of the other stuff?

The modern, dealing with 1985-2000?
The Silver Age?
Or the current era 2001-Now?
For a few recommendations since they've produced it...I would suggest Greg Rucka's as well as Brubaker's(Basically the volume of both Detective and Batman regarding from since No Man's Land to current) are decent starts.
Though Year:One, Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke are classics.
The problem is that there are volumes of work that are not printed in any other format other then the regular issues.

Basically I want to get reaqainted with the DC Universe, especially my tiny corner of it.
