The Nazgul vs. Harry Potter
Okay, through some twist of fate, Harry gets the one ring, and the nine are after him. The places:
1.Harry is dropped in the Shire
2.The Nazgul find themselves in the muggle world
3.The Nazgul find themselves at Hogwarts.
So, what happens in each scenario?

Hogwarts gets pwned!
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! Well, taking it mildly seriously, the killing curse seems to be a universal death spell, and since it was the enchanted blade that did in the Lord of the Nazgul, we can probably assume that HP magic will have a similar effect - note that because everyone seems to be a little unfussed about using Avada Kedavra whether they fight for good or evil, you only appear to need the power (rather than the anger as in Crucio in OOTP).
If the killing curse fails, theres always the old set them on fire routine, I'm sure he could do that. Failing that? Running would be the preffered option.
It's a big world out there, if he can learn to apparate, then he could piss them off forever.

This is rather specious logic. All magical things that kill stuff are the same?The_Lumberjack wrote:the killing curse seems to be a universal death spell, and since it was the enchanted blade that did in the Lord of the Nazgul, we can probably assume that HP magic will have a similar effect

There's the Nazgul's fear aura thing, remember how Frodo basically fell in front of them and cowered?
Though I'd love to see the Witch King and the Nazgul slaughter that whole damn infernal school, Dumbledore would be interesting to see though.

Also, aren't the Nazgul technically "Undead". I don't know how a "Killing Curse" would effect such a creature. (Never read Potter, so I don't know if it was ever used againt an undead creature).GrandAdmiralPrawn wrote:This is rather specious logic. It's a long time since I last read a Potter book - but doesn't Harry Potter know other damage-dealing spells than "killing curse"???Majin Gojira wrote:Also, aren't the Nazgul technically "Undead". Hmm... some people have noted that Gandalf and Dumbledore never have been seen together... also the fact that at the end of Lord of the Rings, Gandalf sails away in a ship... and strangely enough, it is said that one arrives first time at Hogwarts by water...Gandalf wrote:Though I'd love to see the Witch King and the Nazgul slaughter that whole damn infernal school, Dumbledore would be interesting to see though.

Yes, not great debating technique I admit, but the general gist was there, I actually meant that we have to assume that a killing curse in Potter will kill someone in Lord of the Rings (even though we have never seen any form of killing curse), but senor Johansen is right, if the Nazgul are undead, then nothing is going to happen. Might kill the horses though.GrandAdmiralPrawn wrote:This is rather specious logic. Hey, maybe the Patronus will work on them. It works on their cheap Korean knock-offs, the Dementors.

Indeed, the source of their power was forged by the fearsome skill of the leiutenant to the evilest being in the world. The Dementors magic powers were stitched together by a 12 year old witch in a windowless factory.Stormbringer wrote:So, the Nazgul are the orginal Made in Mordor variety?

The killing curse is a banned curse and it's only been the "evil side" that have used it, so you can hardly say using it is "unfussed about".The_Lumberjack wrote:note that because everyone seems to be a little unfussed about using Avada Kedavra whether they fight for good or evil, you only appear to need the power (rather than the anger as in Crucio in OOTP).

ANother potential question is whether Harry would be able to resist the power of The Ring?

Harry would be corrupted like anyone else. The only reason the Hobbits weren't as effected was because most of them really don't care about power at all. And even they become corrupted. Harry would use the ring to destroy Voldemort (cheap, Korean Darth Vader knock-off) and end up taking his place.2000AD wrote:ANother potential question is whether Harry would be able to resist the power of The Ring?

Harry would be one of the worst persons to use the Ring. He might well be able to avoid being killed if he had it - its pretty obvious he really wants to get his way, and he is more Slytherin than he likes to believe. He'd become so evil so fast it look like Sauron found a new body.So would Harry be able to use the Ring to help him somehow or is he still fucked?
But the Nazgul would probably accept him. If Harry ever met Sauron, he would lose, though.
