Not in the least. Humans and Elves are different varieties of the same species for crying out loud! Being attracted to people who you can have viable offspring with is just what nature intended, though you really shouldn't care what nature thinks.

Besides, an elf is just a human with funny ears in terms of looks. Now if you look at the xenomorph from Alien and think "Penis goes there!" you have problems.
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! No. Xenophilia would be having sexual desire for alien species.

Ah, so if you're looking at a picture of a Dug or a Verpine and Mr./Mrs. Happy goes to phase 2, you're a xenophilliac?

Is the physical attraction to an elf even that different to that of a human?

The surface difference is pretty much limited to the ears, and unless you have a fetish for pointed ears, you're pretty much still attracted to what a human looks like.

So is it really that different from being attracted to a normal human?

I didn't think it was abnormal either, actually, I do kinda find the drows attractive :) Not that I'd start with one, unless she was a good one.

Look at Viconia de Vir. Basically, they are black-ish skinned elves.

If only elves were real....They are supposed to be the most beautiful of all the races, so why WOULDN'T you be attracted to them? I'd think you odd were you not! ;-) Also...correct me if I'm wrong, but elves are also immortal, never growing older, but always growing more and more beautiful?

Elves come in different flavors some are practicaly immortal while others are merely extremely longlived, a millenia or two.

Is immortality the end of evolution?

Drow, for all their beauty is not something I would recommend. They share certain less desirable traits with the spiders they love so dearly.

There's also the fact that elves usually are thinner than humans for some reason (maybe they have a slightly different metabolism) and in some cases taller (eg. the elves of Warhammer) and the elves presented in D&D have a rather non-human visage - their faces are generally narrower and have other features distinguishing them from humans than the pointy ears.

[shameless plug] (The Elven Hierophant of Lathander depicted in the 3rd edition Forgotten Realms sourcebook's chapter about prestige classes even looks pretty much like the Xril from my story "The Wormhole War" which by the way was updated yesterday)[/shameless plug]

In any case, being attracted to Arwen is just a matter of being attracted to Liv Tyler in Spock ears, so no biggie.

As for the alien queen... you sick bastards... well, how many of her OTHER bodily fluids are acidic as well?

Since it's possible for elves and humans to produce offspring (and humans and orcs, and humans and ogres, etc.), they're not a different species, and it's not xenophilia. Honestly, even the sectoids (X-Com term, I know, so sue me) from Close Encounters of the Third Kind look a hell of a lot closer to humans than any real advanced sentient extra-terrestial species is likely to.

Oh and btw..
Is immortality the end of evolution?
No. They can't die of old age, but they can still be killed.

Shouldn't Xenophilia be with species like centaurs, dragons, beholders, lamias, and etc.

Depends on context, really.

In terms of modern world interpretation, it would be a preference for foreign people/things. Just as xenophobia is a regection of foreign things.

I do believe Mermaids would fall under that category as well?

Given that they're generally portrayed as having at least fifty percent fish content I'd say so.

Would being attracted to an alien species that does not look human in appearance be tantamount to beastiality?
