Without the useful defensive/offensive power of the lightsaber I believe that precognition is less useful than it might seem. A Jedi might be able to react to Yuu's attacks only to have their hands break when attempting to deflect his punches (due to his ample strength). Unless of course you believe that the Jedi move at speeds where Yuu's "bullet-time" movements would be so slow as to make him a statue to them, or something similar.
Well yes, neutering the Jedi by taking away their weapons and most of their powers does certainly help Yu-Law out here. But as I said before, I hate that "handicapping" practice in "vs" threads involving Jedi. A Jedi without either TK or a lightsabre is no longer a Jedi. He's just a guy with spidey-sense.

Why do you think the Jedi showdowns aren't in Fantasy anymore? I set fire to people for that.

Because The One and Star Wars are sci-fis....why did you move it?!

And did you not even read the previous posts?! You keep bantering on about neutering the Jedi when I said MANY posts ago "Okay, give Mace his powers but no Sabre".
History? I love history! First, something happens, then, something else happens! It's so sequential!! Thank you first guy, for writing things down!

And what was this doing in Fantasy? This belongs in the OSF.

Hey fuckhead, what part of this conflict is technological in nature? Oh yes, NONE OF IT. I moved it to Fantasy for a reason. Moving it BACK TO FANTASY, WHERE IT WILL STAY. Do not countermand me again.

Both characters come from a scifi setting, not a fantasy one. A large number of people simply don't bother checking this forum because they don't like fantasy bassed fiction. Thats why I'm never in here. I wouldn't have seen this thread had it not been originaly posted in the OSF.

Hell, by the forum descriptions, the thread belongs in the OSF because both characters come from technology bassed scifi.

I also didn't see you move the thread. I was in OSF and clicked the link (like I had last night). When I posted I noticed I was in Fantasy and didn't imediately see any credit claimed. I thought someone had just moved it but didn't claim it.

Irrelevant; this forum was created in large part because I was tired of "Jedi vs" scenarios, which are really about super-powers rather than any kind of technology. This thread falls neatly into that category.

Then you might want to change the forum descriptions so people know what you intended.

I keep those descriptions short for a reason, and I don't intend to turn them into essays. The mods are supposed to pay attention rather than needing to be instructed solely by the forum description one-liner.

Well in that case, that is why I moved the thread back in the first place. Bassed on the rules you gave us, this thread belonged in the OSF. It involves two characters from technology bassed scifi. The forums say nothing about taking the fantasy elements from a scifi bassed universe and talking about them in the fantasy forum.

I don't give a flying fuck if the one-line description says so. I SAY SO. The forum was created EXPRESSLY to get those goddamned Jedi vs Whoever threads out of the OSF forum, and don't give me bullshit about "The One" being a legitimate tech-based sci-fi; Yu-Law is a classic superhero-type character. What part of this are you too goddamned stubborn to accept?

If you honestly think "The One" is technology based, you're on drugs. There is a technological plot device in "The One", but he is clearly a superhero-type character. Don't be a jackass.

And had we known this (mods included since they never moved the thread in here), the thread wouldn't have been posted in the OSF.

Mike, you have to give us a hint for us to know what your intent is so we can do our job and so that the members know where to put their threads. We can't read your mind, you have to tell us something.

And something else to think about. If it has any fantasy element at all, does it automaticaly get dumped in here? What if the thread was Book Mobile Infantry vs Gandalf the Gray? Which takes presedence over what? Does tech bassed scifi trump, or does fantasy means the tech bassed scifi gets thrown into the fantasy forum?

Read the fucking FIRST SENTENCE OF THE ANNOUNCEMENT in the OSF forum:

"After seemingly endless debate with comic and anime fan-whores, it has become all too clear that they categorically reject the use of science and scientific methods for analysis, therefore those discussions become virtually unresolvable through objective, rational means and clearly do not belong in the OSF forum."

When a thread cannot be resolved in an objective, rational way then it does not belong in OSF. Gandalf the Grey vs anyone cannot be resolved in an objective, rational way, and if you tried, the fan-whores would simply ignore you. The same goes for this thread; there are potential items which can be quantified but not enough to make sense out of anything.

Ah, I see.

Still, you might want to consider altering the forum descriptions just a tad. Not everyone reads the announcements that closely.

I like the forum description.

It should come as no surprise that I disagree with Mike on whether we can analyze situations like this objectively and rationally; after all, I've been hacking away at the most fantastical realms since before I got this moderatorship. However, there are enough differences in approach, mindset, and, let's be frank, in genres, that the forum seperation is logical. It's one thing to suspend disbeleif to imagine a thinking, self-aware tank, like in the Bolo novels; it's quite another to hold suspension of disbeleif in a world where technology works on the same rules as magic(Say, in the World Of Darkness).

All that being said, gentlemen, this has little to do with Yu-Law or Mace. I'll split this and leave it up.
