Most potentially dangerous "all out" characters

Post by The Grim Squeaker »

Which characters if they did not suffer from Plot induced stupidity (PIS) or Character Induced stupidity (CIS) would be extremely dangerous?
(Relative to their universe or normal power set?)

One example is Animal man
thread in cbr
For those to bored to go thorough it, copying the abilities of any animal means he could be 850 times stronger than normal (Rhinosarus beetle), could take a spear shrimps spear (Which shoots with the force of a bullet at 50 m/s, 10,400 g underwater), could take the powers of Bacterium to replicate like crazy, starfish for regeneration, once when taking the durability of a Rhino he shrugged of a 747 crashing into him for Fun.
At the end of his series he could mix and match freely and apparently take the properties of any aniaml/non human that died on earth.
Such as Krypto, white martians, etc...
Potentially he could have the versatility to make MM or Superman look one dimensional, as well as being almost impossible to kill.

Another Example is:
Bookworm
The power to create and control any fictional character is a lot scarier if say, he read the bible or Hyperion books or DC comics (Which do exist in marvel verse).

Yet another is The Flash.
Quite simply if he always functioned at his standard high level (not peak) his reaction times are far beyond the pico-secs, he can turn on the speed instantly, time travel, make punches that can hurt Superman badly, travel in time at will and possibly change it, steal speed from anyone else and add it to his own combined with his ability to break c speeds.

Also the classic is Superman, if he functioned at his normal high levels, used all the equipment at his disposal (Alien warlord weapons, a GL ring, Superman robots nearly identical to him, Kryptonian armour(s), ultra high tech from the fortress etc...) or if he used the Sun dip to reach planet moving strengths regularily or decided to Kill (Action comics 775 has a fantastic story about how dangerous he would be if he took of the kid gloves) or maintained his speeds of near c.
The fact is he could destroy earth easily, or annihalate it's ozone layer also (He threatened to do this to make the 4 eleemtal forces stop attacking him once).

I'd go with Marvel's Silver Surfer and Thor. Both have a large assortment of powers at their disposal and both tend to "forget" about them. SS has matter transmutation and energy manipulation powers, hyperspace traveling speed, insane durability, cosmic senses and probably many others I'm forgetting.

Thor has planetary level weather/environment control strong enough to overpower Ego the Living Planet's control of his own atmosphere/environment, stunning and driving him off. His weather control also far exceeds natural limits, for example effortlessly making lightning strong enough to KO the Hulk. He has also destroyed a space armada with a cosmic storm, absorbed energy into his hammer and blasted it across space to re-ignite a star, travel far FTL with the hammer, teleport across space/dimensions, as well as other stuff.

Anyway, those are my picks. I would have chosen Superman and the Flash also, but those have already been mentioned.

Palpatine. Even with Plot-Induced Stupidity, he managed to conquer a galaxy-spanning Republic from within, destroy the guardians of said Republic (including defeating several of their masters personally), and come damned close to crushing all resistance under his heel.

The first was done by manipulating events practically single-handedly, the second with the help of one Jedi and a batallion or so of troops, and the third was foiled by a lucky set of coincidences and incompetence on the field.

Palpatine was dangerous constantly, any later events were irrelelevant compared to his earlier massive succeses, also he didn't suddenly go all out, he was doing his best in an intelligent fashion (Clouding the force, seducing Anakin etc,,,).
In other words, he doesn't count

Also Iceman would be very nasty as a villian, his control over water could let him make anyone explode like a balloon if he wanted to.

Sandman also could be a near unbeatable melee opponent, rock hard with one punch yet impossible to harm. (The same applies to Hydroman)

Also Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) if evil could kill anyone by phasing with them and leaving them half way through the floor/wall.

I think Dark Phoenix in Marvel Comics. The reason she got trounced was because she had a split personality going with Jean Grey, which worked against her when Xavier took her down and then caused her to suicide on the Blue Area of the Moon. Even with this working against her, she ate a fucking star. If Jean Grey wasn't holding her down, Marvel Universe would have had a severe fucking. I mean, she triggered an alert in the Shi'ar Empire that's normally reserved for folks like Galactus.

Nibbler, from Futurama. The little bugger can eat anything after all.

Also, Bun-Bun from sluggy freelance. He was able to come pretty damn close to taking over the universe, sans a deus ex machinae.

Storm is a good contender, she can alter global weather even better than Thor, potentially she could cause weather to wipe out most of rural humanity

Anyone with the slightest hint of telekinesis. I mean i doubt it takes that much pressure to damage the brain, just give it a nudge and the average person is SOL.

Mr Miracle- The man has the anti life equation (Considered more dangerous than the Joker with the powers of a 5 dimension imp), if he wanted to the multiverse would be his.

Amazo from the Justice League cartoon. While I'm not familliar with his original comic book incarnation, in the cartoon he is capable of learning and mimicing the powers of any being he encounters, then retaining said powers permanently. After fighting the entire JLA he gained all their powers and then headed off into the stars, only to become even stronger between episodes. By the time he returned to Earth he was powerful enough to displace an entire planet into another dimension just because it was in his way (as he did to the planet Oa, much to the Green Lantern Corps' chagrin). Fortunately he's been portrayed as not being malevolent.

Erm, he is portrtayed as unstoppable, it's not as if he would get a boost by copying Supermans powers :P.
Same goes for Magneto, he uses gis powers intelligently, and is a marvel earth level threat (He uses the avengers as pinyotas).

Also Profesor Xavier, if evil has been shown to be able to one shot planets, or control the population of planets, he's worse than an alpha plus :P

People who can produce convincing illusions should be far more dangerous than they are, because they can trick others with weapons or powers to do their bidding through trickery.

I thought Storm was more limited in weather control than Thor. IIRC, she cannot ride rough shod over the weather but work with natural weather forces or summat. In one issue waay back, this was mentioned when she was coming to grips with a hurricane or winter storm that was inadvertedly created by some other character, can't remember if it was Shaman of Alpha Flight or Emma Frost or someone else. It said something about Thor's control of the weather being magical thus giving him greater leeway in weather control.

I was actually going to reply to this myself. IIRC, Storm can only manipulate what is there, but Thor can create environmental affects instantly no matter what is currently around. For example, it would take Storm time to create rain in the desert, while Thor could do it instantly. I also don't think Storm can create weather on the scale (Thor's lower bound is planetary level) or with the same intensity (Thor drove off Ego, among other feats, using his weather, I don't think Storm has done nearly that much with hers) since he is not bound by the limits of nature. I also know Storm has encountered the Hulk in the past and I don't think her lightning has ever hurt him. Thor's, when he uses it, at minimum stuns the Hulk, and has been shown powerful enough to knock him out, which Thor did effortlessly.

Mastermind (Marvel) is a good example of this, when he bothers to manipulate individual characters he can make subtle and dangerous changes.
This is the man that was responsible for Dark Phoenix, and the Void (The evil more powerful part of The Sentry), if he kept at it he could brainwash a large proportion of marvel heroes.

He's a wekaer version of Doc strange, Dr Fate or the silver surfer, all of whom hold back despite being ludicrously powerful. (Silver surfer flies around black holes in his normal (Non brick;)) showings, Strange once went through a supernova explosion then plugged up a black hole in his weaker astral form  ).

Someone like Silver surfer going all out would be nasty, he has a massive variety of powers, can one shot planets, and could, say, transmute someones heart into glass.

Mastermind had help for Dark Phoenix. To corrupt/brainwash Phoenix he needed Emma Frost's mindtap gizmo in order to project his illusions into Phoenix's mind. In fact, to affect a specific individual, he needs this mechanism. IIRC, his power is area effect, as large as a town or a city IIRC.

I don't know about the Void or whether Mastermind since recovering from his Phoenix-induced catatonia could project illusions into another person's mind.

I suspect Proteus' (Moira McTaggart's son) reality warping would have been at least as dangerous. After all, Phoenix thought that the initial Mastermind illusions she received at the time were due to Proteus' reality warping.

But Proteus was shown as uber powerful (Likewise with legion), the reason he wasn't more effective is that large scale reality warping nearly always drives it's wielder insane in Marvel Comics. (James Braddock, Scarlet witch, Legion, Proteus, and molecule man altered physical reality and is the only exception).

Apocalypse is a (seperate) prime example, he does regularily show massive endurance, Hulk beating strength, Prof X level TP, the control of his body structure, regeneration, massive prep and technology etc....
Logically given his atomic control of his bodies structure he shouyld be able to give himself the power of any mutant in existence, rather than having such a minor effect on the MU.

Onslaught's final form is an even greater example than A, he can create Suns with ease yet in the final battle his appliaction of his unnumerable, near infintie powers are energy blasts, rock fists and pounding the Hulk.

Beast Boy's cartoon version.

He's shown the ability to turn into any animal on Earth, as well as alien creatures (the nasty mole-rat-looking thing on Tamaran); he's about as versatile as Animal Man, but he NEVER uses his powers to good effect. Never EVER. He'd easily be the most powerful of the Titans if he wasn't so slow on the uptake.

Molecular Man. The ability to control non organic material, including transmuting it, should make him much more powerful then he's portrayed to be in Marvel.

AS much as he wants, once his mental inhibitions are down he's treated as a universal entity on par with a cosmic cube (Which is part of what he really is).
He doesn't bother going all out except against the all around superior extremely powerful Beyonder.

Good question. Lower limit is pretty obvious...small changes to clothing color wise and the like...

Upper limit is transmuting gases to solids, self manipulation to fly, the ability to control complex machines, including computer/electronics.

While his true upper limits haven't been truly shown, he is able to affect planet wide changes to mountain ranges, being able to re-arrange them, albiet with support from others, such as the Silver Surfer.

He originally was self-nerfed due to his mental blocks, though that was lost as time went on. He also used to use a dorky wand. Eventually lost the wand and was able to affect organic material as well. Of course while he had the wand he was able to store his life force in the wand, and could possess anyone who touched it.

Able to create life, forming a construct and instilling it with consciousness. Also able to transport multiple people across interstellar distances, including the entire population of Earth.

...And he gets his ass kicked by Ben fucking Grimm??
