Al Qaeda vs Old Republic

Premise:

On the 11th of September 25,001, two hijacked Coruscant Spacelines passenger ships crashed into the towers of the Galactic Trade Center on Coruscant, completely destroying them and killing an estimated 3 million people.

A short time later another hijacked vessel was rammed into the Republic Defense Headquarters, damaging the complex and killing several tens of thousands.

Soon after this, a fourth hijacked vessel crashed amid an asteroid field near the capital.

It is suspected that the attacks are the work of Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda terrorist organisation. Bin Laden is believed to be sheltering on the outer rim world of Afghanistan, where the ruling Islamic fundamentalis Taliban government are freindly towards the terrorists and have allowed them to set up training camps on their planet.

Anyway, what happens? (Assume a couple of years before the events of TPM)
