My dad checked out the recent reprint from our local library system -- he originally thought it was a "new" novel that wasn't on the list Pocket Books puts inside each novel now, but didn't realize it was a reprint of a really old novel, apparantly the first ST novel ever published (done a couple of years before Blish adapted the original scripts to novel, and apparantly done while TOS was still on the air).
