Odd, spontaneous vs debate thread

Some Apache, Cobra, Commanche and Blackhawk helicopters appear on Coruscant out of a wormhole, and start flying around blowing up all speeders in sight at random. The door gunners on the helicopters that have them (the blackhawks) strafe any crowds of people seen in the open.

What happens?

They cause a traffic jam for about 5 minutes before they're shot out of the sky by civillians with blaster rifles.

I meant to say: It's not Empire-era Coruscant. It's about the TPM/AOTC era. Maybe a few years before AOTC.

To be fair the atmosphere pressure even in the high latitudes of Coruscant (for example the height where the speeder chase took place, or at least the high parts of it) appears to be normal low-level Earth equivelant. You don't see people suffering the effects of being in a thin air environment, even when they are fresh from an off-world location such as Naboo. (Effects such as shortness of breath, tiredness etc.

In all probablility the advanced weather and atmospherics control systems can somehow enfore fairly uniform air pressure throughout the inhabited levels of Coruscant.

Also, it's incorrect to say that they can't handle it over a mile up. Most helicopters can fly about two miles up (on Earth)

I have to agree though with the rest of the analysis of most people. They don't last long. Local cops are bound to have armament that could shoot them down, and even blaster rifles might be able to severely damage them or bring them down.

They last maybe 10 minutes at the most. Assuming tht civilian speeders are unsheilded, they down maybe a few dozen between them. The door gunners if they can fire at a crowded plaza/balcony etc. can maybe kill several hundred.

In the end, it's absolutely nothing though, given the scale of Coruscan't population.

A short, brief GTA3 style massacre. In the end the first civilian with a blaster and a clean shot will bring them down.

They'd be okay up to 10-12,000 feet, beyond that performance falls off very rapidly. However the local authorities must be well equipped for dealing with air speeder, and they'd have an easy time downing helicopters.

How long it takes depends on how many aircraft come though, the US Army has the largest air force in the world after all with some 4,000 helicopters.
