The SDF-1 has no shielding system.
Slightly wrong, SDF-1 does have a partial(sp) sheild coverage via the Pen Point Barrier System
One hit from a heavy turbolaser battery would vaporize it. Then the ISD would happily proceed to conduct a Base Delta Zero on Earth.

PIN point Barrier system and they do have a shield...or that thing after Roy's death was pretty funky.

But even then the shield has a tendacy to blow out and honestly no real calcs can be done upon it, much like the main gun given that at times they show conflicting reports.

What era of Macross?

I don't know how it'd stand up against in the original series, but an ISD would never touch the baby in the Macross 7 period, especially if you give it fighters.

Don't forget the full shield used in Call to Arms. Annihilated Quebec City when it overloaded, since it doesn't collapse, but expands and causes damage when it absorbs too much energy.

Given that we have no hard data on the SDF-1's shields or weaponry, I say it would be best to withold a final conclusion until technical data becomes available (possibly with Macross Zero, though I personally doubt it, since it's a prequel).

We know that they only have 3-4 pinpoint barriers, so a simultaneous salvo widely dispersed across the SDF1 surface would obliterate it. The full barrier shield would be overloaded by the first salvo, detonate, and the ISD would fly through the explosion to kill the SDF1.

Couldn't the full barrier overload destroy the ISD? I mean, that's how they destroyed Dolza's giant asteroid base in Call to Arms, right? We could use footage from that episode to calculate the yield on that barrier overload, huh?

I don't know about the official figures, but in my table top game (designed more for fun than for accuracy I'll be the first to admit) the SDF-1 did the Daedalus maneuver, punching the ISD right in the nose with its pinpoint-barrier-covered fist. Lights out for the ISD!

Those barriers can combin into a full barrier system. Which survived at the heart of all those black-hole weapons being used in Dolaza's base.

It wasn't just the barrier overload that did Boldolza in. They also fired hundreds of nukes at the main reactor.

Okay...they fired off hundreds of nukes

Then equipped the shield.

Go watch Force of Arms again

It wasn't the shield that did it in...it was the nukes, then the SDF-1 used the shield to protect themselves from the conflagaration.

Observable effects from a barrier shield detonation have not been in the terraton range, so the ISD would survive it easily.
