Gerak betrayed the Priors, and self-immolated afterward.Admiral Valdemar wrote:Dammit, I missed this when the first part was on before Xmas, ironically, when I was down with a bloody awful cold. How'd they solve the virus problem then?

I enjoyed it, especially the way Mitchel and Jackson played off each other when they were interrogating the Prior.
I just wish Varek didn't die. I didn't like him falling in with the Ori so quickly. I thought he could have been a great not-so-good guy. Same goal, different methods. A gradual turn to the darkside would have been cool and dramatically more moving. It would have made him more sympathetic, seeing him slowly turn.
But, hey, they do a fine job writing without me.
That said, I did enjoy it overall, just that part left me a little off.
One thing thats bothered me for several months: What do the Free Jaffa do about symbiots? They obviously aren't doing the hit-n-run attacks they did at first. Are they all on that supplement Teal'c is using?

My guess is that they are breeding the symbiots in tanks like in that one episode from season seven. Any other ideas?

Possible, but I imagine they're transferring to tretonin as fast as they can; carrying Goa'uld would remind them all too sharply of having once been servants of the false gods, and one can see the advantage morale-wise in divesting themselves of this symbol of their bondage.AT3256 wrote:One thing thats bothered me for several months: What do the Free Jaffa do about symbiots? It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

But what about the side effects shown when the Jaffa's bodies reject it?

Are the Jaffa actually physically dependant on the Symbiots?
I was under the impression that a Jaffa who didn't undergo the "prim'ta" ritual didn't need to carry a larva.

Too bad Smoking Man couldn't have sound better or had his voice altered a bit. He sounded so weird and unprior-like.
I really liked the moment when Teal'c confronted Garrak on Chulak showing how strong he felt against the Ori. I don't think any other way would have Garrak change his mind.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

A decent episode. Gerak's motivations, now fully exposed, was an interesting reveleation. To see that he was just as devoted to the cause, only favoring a different, more hardline approach...I simply wish this has been explored or built up more over the course of the first half of the season, especially now that's he dead. And part of me briefly hoped from his cameo that Hammond would be taking over at the SGC again. Ah, well, one can hope. Best lines:
Mitchell: Daniel, you're driving.
Daniel: Ooh, yay.
and when the Prior was ranting...
Mitchell: I'm going to get something to eat.
3.5/5

The damn Prior adapted to it and he was able to infect someone with the uber-plague with physical contact without the staff.Elheru Aran wrote:As for the rest of it-- interesting that their anti-Prior device definitely seems to work now... I'll definitely keep watching this.

I found it kinda weak. The begining is obviusly CGI on a level I haven't seen since Babylon 5, the emboss effect on the letters just makes them harder to read, the sequences chosen for representing the series are bad (Mitchell is represented by his f302 hitting the ground?!? Carter by a glider doing a strafing run on her?!?). Hell, the entire intro smacks of amateur hour.spongyblue wrote:I'm glad the full intro is back
Really sad about it too, since Atlantis' intro for season 2 is simply beautiful.
