Who's attacking it? I think B5 is a very well-done sci-fi series. This doesn't mean I'm supposed to think that its ships are more powerful than they are.

They're not, but we like to make them appear like they are. :D Works on some people who are not as good at using logic. :D

Why does it take 3 posts for a new page to show up and display those posts? Is there something wrong with my settings? Is anyone else having this problem?

It's happening to me, too.

For some it does...for some it doesn't.

Awfully confusing :? .

Sometimes we can choose the path we follow. Sometimes our choices are made for us. And sometimes we have no choice at all

And we never saw a 20 meter asteroid damage an ISD.
A little. How much depends on the mass of the two objects invlved.
Yes but this is a miniscule rock compared to the ISD, it would NOT have been so great a threat, as to warrent destruction. And it is stated, time and again, that Imperials like complete efficiancy.
Any impact is going to cause some damage. They were in that asteroid field for days. Not even ISDs are indestructable.
The ISD is NOT flimsy.
This, Dth. Wong, is why I label my jokes. Note: EMPHASIS!
Don't quit your day job.
Quote: I was initially trying to present a paradox, if ISDs are so powerful why would they be hampered by relatively small rocks?
They're not.
If they are not, then why did the imperials shoot at them?
Because even ISD shields wear out after a while. Given the density of that asteriod field, there must have been THOUSANDS of asteroid collisions during the time they were in there.
This is the conflict in logic here, they had to feel it necessary to track and destroy a 20 meter wide rock, while in pursuit of a small, less powerful, ship. My point here is that in order for it to become an issue, then they would have not been as powerful or as resiliant as is sometimes stated.
Or the fact that less damage to the ship (no matter how small) means fewer systems malfunction and less to clean up later at space dock.
The fact is if asteroids could easily make it through an ISDs shields then why are railguns completely not used on any ships, and ion beams are?

Asteroids do NOT easily make it through shields. We know that ONE 70 meter asteroid crashed into the bridge tower causing some damage AFTER the ships had already been in the field for several hours.

1)The fins have less armor than the main body of the cruiser.

2) Sharlin's armor does not stop kinetic impacts very well

3)An effects glitch in ITB.

Have a very nice day.

ROTFLMAO!!! Do all Fivers do this?
The Rabid ignorant ones do (so I guess that would mean "most of the SB Fiver populace" )

I feel like I'm arguing with an "intelligent design" creationist. For the second time, see Occam's Razor. Your theory is irrational because it requires extra factors which are unnecessary.
Actually the rules in B5 are that visuals and dialogue can be ignored at will no matter how flimsy the reason unless they support some high-end capability, whereupon you adhere to the most rigid and literal interpretation of the scene that favors big numbers, no matter how vague or ambiguous the incident.

Thats kind of how it seems to be at least.
