Battle of Hoth Force Sub

Post by SAMAS »

Instead of AT-ATs, the rebel forces are beset by a trio of Ultrasuruses(Ultrasauri?)(Zoids), with Command Wolves replacing the AT-STs.

These are the ZBC/toy versions. In other words, no Gravity Cannons.

Can the rebels hold off this new assault?

So you're essentially laughing at your own ignorance?

Alright, time for a history lesson.

If the name Zoids doesn't ring a bell, try Robo Strux.

Yes, it's those assembliable animal-style mecha from your childhood. Big metal dinosaurs, tigers, gorillas, etc... with equally big guns.

Cartoon Network recently ran three Zoids animes that were recently made(Notable because the Zoids themselves were done in cel-shaded CG graphics). The first two dealt with a war between the two powers of the series, the Helic Republic and the Guylos Empire, while the third takes place several years, if not decades, later, and Zoids and their pilots still battle, only this time in sanctioned battles as gladiatoral-style contests.

The ones in question are:

Ultrasaurus -- A giant Zoid in the shape of... well, an Ultrasaurus. It's main armaments are a quartet of heavy cannons mounted on it's back, over it's shoulders, and a host of other smaller guns and missile launchers. It's a cross between a carrier Zoid and a mobile fortress. In the original models, it's stated as being about 27.5 meters tall, but the anime series versions are much larger, capable of carrying multiple zoids inside of them.

Command Wolf -- As the name implies, the Command Wolf is a wolf-shaped Zoid standing 7.9 meters tall. It's used primarily for scouting and combat, and is normally armed with a pair of 50mm cannons and quad smoke launchers, although it can be upgraded to heavier weaponry, including Long-range cannons, Mortars, missile launchers, and other guns.

Depends, on if the Zoids can withstand the kind of temperatures on Hoth (haven't really seen 'em fighting in a winter setting) but I'd say they'd drive the Rebels back, albeit with more casualties then the Imperials took.

BTW, how many AT-STs were at Hoth? On-screen we only see 1 :?
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Hmm.. well if you go by the comment in the first Zoids Zero episode then all they'd need to do is equip the command wolves with Long Range Rifles and let them shell the shit out of the shield generator from 30-60 miles out.
