"Bean, who couldn't control large groups of shis effectively but could use a few like a scalpel, reacting beautifully to anything the computer threw at him." Bean is a good stratagist just on a smaller scale. He also scored higher on the inteligence test than Ender, and he doesn't brake under stress.

I dunno who is the better tactician, but, in a full-scale war, Thrawn will use Ender as a novelty dustrag. Ender is unwilling to send men to die, plus, he has no familiarity with logistics.

Ender will send men to die. As we see in the final Dragon battle against two teams and when he defeated the Formics. The only time he does it is when he wants to quite thoe.

Ender is willing to send men to die, he just doesn't like to needlessly sacrafice them.

I think that Ender would send as many men to die as it takes to prevent utterly an attack against him personally. When he ends something, it is well and truly ended. Well, okay, he has a bit of character development by the end of the book, so I guess we can say that this phase of his personality has an end to it, but during his military years, he's pretty much an ender, as near as I can tell.

Is it just me or does Sheridan have some special affection towards nuking people?

Plus there's the one where he uses the "Bonehead manuever" to basically nuke a shadow ship. :D

In my opinion, Bean is better than Ender. If you've read the books, he is both a strategist as well as a tactician. He uses tactics that are consistent with his strategic directives.
Also, if you read "Enders Shadow" he was used by Graff as a backstop for Ender because he could keep the whole battle under consideration (very hard to do in reality - when the shit hits the fan keeping track of everything is well nigh impossible)
Where Ender excels as opposed to Bean is his natural ability to command. He makes people love him. Bean is tooabrupt. What you see is what you get.

Can't comment on whether they are better or worse than Thrawn as I haven't read the Thrawn books.
Of all the things I've lost, I think I miss my mind the most!!
