Scifi-meshes.com visits nBSG set...

Post by Sidious »

As well as the sets of Eureka, Stargate Atlantis, and Flash Gordon. This was for the Sci Fi channel's digital press tour. The recap is located here.

There are some great hi-res photos of the sets here.

This one in particular is great. A clear view of the painting above Adama's sofa depicting the first Cylon war. Colonials and Cylon Centurions fighting each other...with swords

The weapons control image is amusing; Galactica's weapons are controlled by bits of old Compaq server, several enterprise network switches with nothing plugged into them, assorted obsolete electronic test gear and some industrial VCR front panels.

Wait, there's a new Flash Gordon series? Is it any good?

How about this wall panel read out? Also here. Does this mean the old "Columbia" class Battlestars from the original series are canon in nBSG? I know we saw old style Baseships in the museum setup but I don't remember ever seeing the original Battlestar model on the show before.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

It hasn't aired yet, set to premiere in August.

Why would a completely different ship class even be displayed anywhere in the CDC? The only way that could make sense is if some set details done before the actual appearance of the ship was finalised and left it like that figuring nobody'd be able to see it.

Interesting how they used them for their LEDs. I imagine they're just the faceplates, rewired for external control of the LEDs.

I wonder what the big thing in the very top left corner is: the one that displays "1 9 8 4 X" above knobs.

We were told that during filming they had not expected him to destroy that ship, which was very expensive, when he did they were shocked, but kept filming. Afterwards they told him of the cost of the boat and how they had to replace it now.
You go Edward :D

(Adama destroying that ship, just after finishing it in such an explosion of emotion was what made that scene work so fucking well, kudos to him for doing it).

That said, given that he destroyed the ship, why would they want it back? Unless of course it didn't belong to the studio and he had to pay for it or something :P

I'd kill to go and visit all those sets. It would be the trip of a lifetime. The decals on the Prometheus consoles are really interesting. Like the big warning sticker on the weapons console saying that 'full automatic mode' doesn't do IFF checking so fucking watch it when you press 'fire everything' :D

Ah ha! More proof that nBSG has previously contacted Earth! How else would they have ended up with Compaq equipment?

It was borrowed from a museum, if I remember right.

Oppps.

Well I'm sure they'll be happy to trade for a signed flashlight or something.

My, that helmet behind Adama's sofa (damn that's a nice couch) looks awfully familiar. True, it could be due to similar development (and it IS a pretty good helmet for what it did), but ...
