Invid vs Jurai

Post by montypython »

If the Invid of Robotech attempted to take over the planet of Jurai (Tenchi Muyo), would the Juraians be able to fight them off?

I might have read too much Jurai wank on SB, but don't the Juraian treeships basically take GBE+ firepower to the face and laugh? And a secondary race was basically capable of building a Death Star?

The Inbit were retarded space crabs who couldn't take a log to the face.

Ah, had this been a Star Wars debate, I would have the perfect reply to that. Pity. :D

Seriously, though. The Invid normally only need to be tough enough to hurt the enemy, and let numbers do the rest.

In this case, however, I can only see Tsunami stopping the Regis' Transmutation attack cold and saying: "Don't even think about it".

Do you even know the context of the scene or are you just making an unrelated joke?

When the Inbit Grab let a big log trap hit it square in the eye after chasing Mint and Hoquet across a snowy landscape makes me question their battle prowess.

It was a joke.

And their sensor eye has always been a weakness, much like the canopy of a fighter jet. It leads right into the cockpit, and the squishy pilot inside.

That's why their primary flight position puts their large, armored forearms in front of the eye as much as possible. In order to hit it, you have to be pretty much flying or standing right in the teeth of their attack. A bad place to be if you're facing an Armored Scout, Shock Trooper, or Pincer.

I see mooks shooting at the main character, and you're surprised that they missed?

I'm surprised how often they miss throughout the course of the series.

Jurai ships draw their power from Tsunami, who has near omnipotence. Even if they're heavily watered down, they're still deus ex machina enough to make this heavily onesided, methinks.

I never saw any of the Robotech series, so I have to ask, do these Invid had any main characters on their side?

If so, then Good Main characters always beat Bad Main characters, especially if GM character is a small girl.

If they dont, then, GM characters always beat the larger mindless army, especiallly if GM character is a small girl.

Jurai, and the Tenchi Universe in general, has bigger cheat cards.

Not to mention Jurai specifically has TWO young girl Good Main Characters. :P

The Invid just really have numbers. Protoculture is mostly just a Deus Ex power source to allow their super-tech to work. And to justify the humans going from the large clunky Destroids (which would almost be at home in the Battletech universe.) to building the insanely agile Veritechs in less than a technical generation.

The Invid get a few 'main character' types later, but 2/3 end up defecting to the humans and the third one gets blown up by a Beta full of missiles.

The Invid are pretty much a joke of a villain period, the only real reason they were able to conquer Earth in Robotech was because the Southern Cross Army just got finished with a year-long war of attrition with a far technologicly and militarily superiour enemy and didn't have much of the 'good stuff' left, like most of their space fleet and mecha, hence them falling back on conventional tanks and whatnot during the opening sequence in the Invid Invasion episode.

The Expeditionary Force getting the shit beat out of it comes down to lousy planning being executed by ships not designed to handle Invid 'tactics', like the Ikazuchi with it's whopping 8 beam cannons and the Garfish with it's one and I think 6 torpedo launchers.

Err....I kind of went on tangent. I don't much about the Jerai, but I'm reasonably sure they would stomp the Invid out of existence faster than Tenchi would get uncomfortable when one of his many ladies attempts to flash him.
