And which makes it ok for it to happen again in this show, how?
It doesn't make it ok (although I personally have no problem with it) only that if it is indeed a flaw it is one it shares with the original film.
That would mean he's still too old for T2 to have taken place in 1997. He'd only be 14 in 1999, and obviously, he's older (he's turning 20 this December in real life, but anyway).
Actors commonly play people younger than themselves, the guy playing Xander was 26 when he was playing a 16 year old.

In the show it says he is 15, so they were a year off in any case.

This however avoids the point that this show inherited a dodgy time line and just corrected it (and that your cited figure was itself incorrect).

I don't see the justification for railing against the show for the reason you listed (part from your dislike of the actress which is a matter of personal taste).

The show certainly wasn't great but I can't see the horrifying abomination you saw and certainly not based on several of you less than adequate reasons.

Rubbish. When you do it once, it's not a flaw, it's a plot twist and good writing. When you pull the same shit all over again, only make it that much more absurd (I'll see your crushed terminator and raise you a fully intact inactive terminator, energy weapon, and time machine! fwar!), it is derivative, contrived, and lame.

Did I mention how that wasn't at all believable either? But if that's believable to you, then what's wrong with Ed Furlong playing a 10 year old in T2 (T2 was set in 1994, 10 years after T1, apparently)?

Sure, Terminators who can't aim, Terminators who act dumber than your average dog (a truck is reversing towards me. I will cock my head at it inquisitively), derivative story lines, 1960s time machines, I'm clearly being unfair.

It would not be that hard to make a spin off that fit into the movies as much as possible. Hell call the 'Dorothy' Reese chronicles. She should be getting pregant any day now to have Kyle. (I made the name Dorothy up.)

Just seen it. I've got to echo Vampel. That was... Painful.

The terminator made little whirring noises as he moved! I guess now we know that the dogs sense...

I was going to check as an idle curiosity along with Flash Gordon. I think I may save myself some pain and not bother.

And continuity? What continuity?! We just reset the history so that Terminator 2 didn't happen in 1992 - it happened in 1997.
Fuck.

In other words, they are ignoring the bullshit that was T3 but then shitting on the timeline just as much.

News flash, kids: the story works with T2 set in 1994. You could maybe push it to 95, even 96, but Judgment Day was in late 1997 and in T2 it is clearly years or AT LEAST months away.

And while I'm willing to forgive a lot if the show is decent, it sounds like it's shit after all.

Let's be fair. Just because the pilot sucked ass, doesn't necesserily mean the whole thing will. I just wouldn't bet money on it turning around.

^ Well, at this point it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be three seasons of explaining how the timeline gets raped so that T3 can still happen with no one remembering the SCC. And that happens just in time for T4 to come out as a Future War movie sans Arnold.

I pretty much knew the pilot was in trouble when the Terminator gets up in the classroom and starts blasting away at John - for some reason, he's hidden a Glock in his leg, and instead of chasing John with single-minded purpose like the Terminators always did, the kids in the class are looking at his cut up leg and the robot parts underneath and he actually takes the time to turn to them and dramatically say "class dismissed"- wasting valuable seconds which John is using to piss off quickly across the parking lot.

Jesus.

Don't you get it, he's fitting in. Skynet must have gained all their intel on humans from watching action movies. Before killing a guy, you have to say a one-liner. Why do you think all the Terminators looked like Arnie?

Saw it (I was compelled to by the fact it had Summer Glau playing an android chick). Incredibly stupid, but still vaguely fun somehow (I confess I used the seek bar to skip all the tortous badly acted character-bonding/whiney-John scenes). How does time travel go from 'requires vast fusion reactor powered installation built by Skynet' to 'cobbled together in a bank vault from 1960s parts by a single human techie' again?

That 'come with me if you want to live' line stands out in my mind as the worst delivery I've heard in the last several years.

Which reminds me. Why did he have that gun in his leg? It'd have been cool if it was a plasma gun stuck under his skin or something. But a normal handgun... why?

Also, the makeup when he got shot wasn't nearly as good as even T1.

The time line in the Terminator movies has never made since. However I have never had any problem with this due to the entire series dealing with time travel. Which has a tendency to change things.

Both T3 (as a result of T2) and this show have changed the date of Judgment day. Big Deal

It could be explained by tech refinement due to them haveing been sent from farther in the future. Its a stretch even then but the only other option is to have the show take place several years ago.

Hell I liked the pilot and am eager to see the show. To each his own I suppose.

Lack of edit

In the original movie only organic matter or metal contained in organic mater could be sent back. In T2 the T-1000 was entirely metal yet traveled back in time. The rules for the mechanics of time travel have never been consistent in the terminator movies.

All the Terminators appeared naked when they arrived in the past, so it's likely they all had organic skin coating their metallic components-- this includes T-1000 and the Terminatrix.
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

I take it from the comments posted here that I shouldn't add it to my list of shows (myepisodes.com). I had such high hopes for it when I was reading the Wired article posted to /. this morning. Then I saw that Fox was carrying it. Summer, I thought you learned your lesson. I know Joss Whedon did.
