WH40k question

Post by PainRack »

For the pariah gene, is there an easy way to rapidly screen a population for its existence? Is there some sort of say pyschic blank spot which can be used by the Inquisition for example?

The Ordo Hereticus has access to a number of psyker-detecting gadgetry, such as "psyocculi", so it stands to reason that there exists anti-psyker-detecting gadgetry, if presumably rarer. It's also likely the Culexus temple has this sort of stuff too.

That said, mass-screening anything in the Imperium is all but impossible. Just rounding up normal psykers is a tedious, case-by-case effort.

Is that doable on a planetary basis though? What if say there was one person with a pariah gene in an average planet population, and the Inquisition wants to dig him out?

I don't know..... The fact that they're able harvest psykers for the Emperor Throne certainly suggest some form of mass screening in effect.

I'm guessing that the average population of the average planet in the Imperium is in the upper hundreds of millions, if not billions and thus housed in hives. It wouldn't be worth the Inquisition's time trying to find that one person who doesn't really have a negative effect on the state of affairs; unlike psykers, cultists, daemons, heretics etc. The Inquisition has higher priorities.

Heh. It's just a matter of scale. With a million-some populated worlds and a paranoid society, enough psykers tend to get 'outed' (as most are not alpha-plus harbingers of armageddon, but just average Joes with a little something extra) by their peers that they can be locked away until one of the Inquisition's Black Ships arrives to pick everyone up. Then the Inquisition can test each psyker one-by-one to determine each poor bastard's fate (Astronomicon, execution, sanction, whatever).

Back in the 31st millennium, it seems that there was indeed a fast and efficient way of locating blanks, as the entire organization of the Sisters of Silence consisted of psychically blank members, and they were even able to be choosey enough to take only women to fill their ranks, as opposed to having to resort to any blank they could find.

It's not a common piece of equipment, but pariahs will fail to show up on psi trackers, which could be combined with a bioscanner to quickly scan a large number of people and find any blanks among them.
The Excellent Prismatic Spray. For when you absolutely, positively must kill a motherfucker. Accept no substitutions. Contact a magician of the later Aeons for details. Some conditions may apply.

So, is that equipment portable? Also, what its range?

You can get it in a device the size of a large mobile phone with a range of tens of yards at least, based on the Inquisitor rulebook.
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.
