40K Dreadnought

Post by Ezekyle Abaddon »

I was just playing Fire Warrior and I reached the chaos temple and the Dreadnought fight when I got up close to finish it I noticed that it did not match any Pattern that I could identify as it has the centre section of a heresy pattern but the legs and every-thing else is much newer and I cant figure this out.
Please Help!

Its a chaos dreadnaught, these come in all shapes and sizes, from slightly altered but recognisable Imperial models, to giant spider mechs with feathered wings and 'orrible cybernetic bug monster heads.

Adding to what white_rabbit said, Dreadnoughts are not mass-produced machines with model makes and numbers. Though many roughly adhere to some basic patterns and their design is a product of the time period they were first constructed in, battle damage will inevitably have to be repaired with modern components, creating mis-matched chassis, weapons, and so on. Furthermore, anything that causes enough damage to kill the Dreadnought is going to tear up a good deal of the body, so it's going to have to be overhauled and seriously repaired even more for when a new Marine is entombed in it.

Thanks everybody, but a nitpick is that the desigh is just to clean to be a pure chaos design, but this may just be bad design.
