Star Trek Voyager and 40k (Cold Fire)

Post by RIPP_n_WIPE »

I was recently watching an episode of voyager (Cold Fire) and thought it remarkable about how Kes the Ocampa made me think of some kind of benevolent off shoot of the Eldar race. Their "Caretaker" sort of reminds me a warp entity or at the very least, of a race capable of traversing the warp and when I saw Susperia in Cold Fire, I immediately thought of some kind of Daemon or other warp entity that these people might follow. Their psionic potential and the fact that the caretakers "engine" (or warpcraft propulsion) damaged the planet simply made me think of a correlation between them and 40k. Couple that with Tanis' mentioning of susperia taking them to the "sub-space layer" I was immediately thinking of the warp.

Any thoughts?

I am the hammer, I am the right hand of my Lord. The instrument of His will and the gauntlet about His fist. The tip of His spear, the edge of His sword. I am His wrath just as he is my shield. I am the bane of His foes and the woe of the treacherous. I am the end.

Maybe they were browsing a Codex and decided to rip off parts of WH40K for a story. It's not like they haven't poached ideas from other franchises and businesses before, the WWF and the casino heist genre come to mind immediately.

My initial reaction to this comparison is...

Ocompa lifespan = 7 years.
Eldar lifespan = 7,000 years.

Normally, I'd be ashamed. But forgetting Voyager is something we should all strive to do.

Nope, it had a full seven seasons, just like DS9 and TNG.

Enterprise only had four, though.
