Orks in the Star Trek Galaxy

Post by fgalkin »

Inspired by a Zor thread (a scary thought, I know.)

Same scenario as in that thread, except the Mek and the boyz end up in some remote swamp on Bajor at the start of DS9.

What happens?

Have a very nice day.

The Feddies get spanked, until they learn to use the vapourise setting on orks, which will seriously limit the spawning of future generations. In the long term, it's the same as the Naboo, really, but with more casualties to account for the lower military capability of the locals, compared to the Gungan Grand Army or the Naboo Royal Forces.

Ten or so orks isn't that impressive. The Orks in WFB are basically the same thing, and pikemen can kill them...

The initial stages will probably involve the Bajorans cleaning up the Orks after taking a hefty amount of damage. Later on, once Feral Orks start poppig up, things will pretty quickly get out of hand. Once the Boys have enough tech scrap on hand, I suspect that the Meks that start forming will begin putting together weapons and ships that will confound the Federation in the sheer amount of firepower they can put out, and by that time, its too late.

The Federation's track record (from what I've seen, atleast) is pretty poor when it comes to quarantines. If they aren't far more cautious than usual, it could get pretty bad. I mean, how many times has an episode been about some sort of virus/parasite/mutant molecule got on ship and really screwed things up?

God forbid Picard runs into the things. He'd try and negotiate. Exhibit A, the Borg. Now we not only do we have a bunch of ruthless monsters running around, we've got them stealing the Federation's most famous (and among its most powerful) ship(s).

If the Federation were willing to be sufficiently brutal, they've got the tech, I think. But they'd need to be willing to destroy their own ships and cause a few mass-extinctions.

Now, if the Romulans or Klingons ran into the things, it wouldn't be so bad. The instant they found out that the Orks couldn't be used as a weapon they'd just kill them off as quickly as possible.

I don't even know what would happen between the Borg and Orks.

We will be in for real comedy if these Orks start steam rolling the Klingons. Literally.

I find the concept of Borg/Ork a bad thing because it is unknown just how well Borg nano-probes would handle Orks. There's a possibility that Orks could be assimilated. If that's possible, than we'd have a bunch or Orks running around that are now effectively immune to phasers. This would be a Bad Thing.

Then again, as demonstrated by Species 8472, the Borg can't assimilate just anything, so there is the possibility that the nano-probes would be worthless. As an "Oh shit. Not good." the former would be what I go with.

More interesting would be the Dominion's reaction when they show up and find an Orky station, or maybe even an Orky fleet in the system. :D

Have a very nice day.

You know this brings up the very funny thought of Q not introducing Picard to the Borg but having them run into an Ork Kroozer.

Added points , the bridge crew hear he orks asking each other if these are humans they are looking at.

There won't be any assimilation. Borg lack kinetic shielding, which means they lack the capacity to adapt to nearly anything the Orks throw at them, which pretty much means that the Boyz are going to cut through the cyborg space zombies like a weed whacker through sedated gerbils.

We've seen how easily a Klingon can tear up Borg drones; now imagine a tidal wave of Boyz running loose throughout a cube.

So it's decided. Orks would be a Bad Thing if the Federation (or Borg, and probably Klingons and Romulans) ran into them and didn't go kill crazy from the get-go.

Q would probably like the Orks too. I'd imagine screwing with their heads would be even more entertaining for him than playing with Picard and Co.s' heads.
