Halo installations and the Dakara superweapon
I noticed that the concept of the Halo superweapon from the Halo game series and the Dakara superweapon from Stargate SG-1 are very similar. Was one inspired by the other?

Probably not.
I had my own little concept for my Sci-fi that was virtually identical to the Master Chief. I just wanked the suit more and the AI was just your usual dumbshit AI.
And this all happened entirely in parallel. I didn't even realize until a year ago, and I thought of it ages before that.
Sure, its nice to know your concept can sell, but its more fun if you're the one selling it.

Re: Halo installations and the Dakara superweapon
The idea of a superweapon that wipes out all life in a huge radius is not so original that one should question who first came up with it.

Re: Halo installations and the Dakara superweapon
What would be original with the superweapon in the OP is if someone had to physically push the button on the device to set it off, and there was no timer. As I think about it, it would be an excellent and fitting end for an accountant.Darth Wong wrote:The idea of a superweapon that wipes out all life in a huge radius is not so original that one should question who first came up with it.

The Dakara superweapon didn't have a timer AFAIK - the heroes survived because it was set to only kill replicators.

In later episodes when the Jaffa use it to wipe out planets that the Ori have converted we learn that you can fire the weapon through the Stargate without the weapons effect being felt on Dakara.
Otherwise how could the Jaffa have used the weapon without wiping out everyone on their new capital world.
