Spartans Vs Space Marine

Post by Exileman »

Now, first off, I'm not a Master Chief Wanktard. This op is to decide how many spartans would be required to take down 1 Warhammer 40K Space Marine. Further rules. The Spartans have the updated Mjolnir armor from Halo 2 and it is in perfect condition. They are each allowed to have any 2 human weapons from Halo 1 or 2 (I'm not familiar with 3 as yet) with in game max holdable ammo. They also have 4 frag grenades.

The Space Marine has standard armor in perfect condition, a standard bolter with 5 clips, and a Chainsword.

The battlefield is flat with little cover. Each side starts out approximately 1 mile from eachother and knows the other sides direction.

So, how many does it take?

Depending on weapons, none might be enough. The SPARTANs are almost certainly going to need rocket launchers, fuel rod weapons, a gauss cannon (like on the warthog), or a Spartan Laser. All of these weapons (save the Spartan Laser, depending on where you hit) take multiple hits to kill a tank.

The Spartans would have to stay out of range of that bolter; judging by how MJOLNIR shields and armor react to regular grenades, they would survive one, maybe two hits at best from a bolter.

If I were to arm the Spartans, I would equip them with sniper rifles and rocket launchers, and pray that they can get a lucky hit on a seal before the Marine gets within bolter range, because once he gets a shot at a Spartan, its over for that one.

Linda might be able to take the Marine down, however, as she's a freaking diety when it comes to sniping. She can ricochet shots off moving Banshees to kill the pilots inside, while hanging upside down by one leg.

Unfortunately I have no idea what a "1 Warhammer 40K Space Marine" is or where it’s from, but I do know what a Spartan is. Judging from your description of the warhammer, I can only say that a Sparten can only do the logical course of action: Find lots of cover and take his time.

If you get Linda, then she can do it on her own with just her sniper rifle. But then again, she is basically the Halo version of a Vindicare assassin.

Otherwise, you'll need either a team of Spartans with coilguns and sniper rifles.

Both the rocket launcher and fuel rod cannon are too slow to get a direct hit before the Space Marine mows down the Spartans, the LAAG is unwieldy and likely to be ineffective unless used at extreme close range at vulnerable points in the armor, and the smaller weapons like the battle rifle will most likely be completely ineffectual except at extreme close range, given what we have known Astartes power armor to shrug off.

The sniper rifle, like the LAAG, will still need to be aimed at vulnerable spots in the Space Marine's armor, but that's much easier to do when you have a scope.

Go hence and be educated, young one

Anyways, we've done this kind of thread before, a simple search through the forums would bring up a number of topics on the subject. Spartans don't have much of a chance except at long range with sniper rifles, and even then...
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Kinda what i figured, given what I know of WH40K Space Marines. I figured the spartans could win if there was a whole helluva lotta them. Perhaps "Our dead bodies weigh him down" kinda lot. Just thought i'd ask.

Then locked, because if no one is going to demonstrate, then fuck I'll keep it open so people can wank to one side while the other stands there fucking dumbfounded.
