Aceleration factors

Post by Lt. Nebfer »

in some sci-fi seares(,Anime,TV moves, ect) the aceleration factors are stated in G's(ie in the gundam serares the suits have a 2g aceleration but what dose this mean?

dose it mean that a unit puling 3.12 G's is acelerating at the rate of 100 feet per second of is it some thig else

1 g is defined as the acceleration an object is falling towards Earth ( at height "zero" ). It's roughly 9.81 m/s^2.

The acceleration on Earth's surface due to gravity is 9.8m/s^2. Therefore, from a human standpoint, one G of acceleration is equal to 9.8m/s^2.

Assuming we are comparing it to Earth's gravity, and not Jupiter's, then yes. Remember though that the derived unit for acceleration is m/s^2, or ft/s^2. ft/s is the derived unit for velocity.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.
