How do you find authors?
When I was looking some stuff up for an earlier post, I wondered to myself why I ever picked up a particular author's work. The author in this case is Diana Wynne Jones. We go way back; the first of her books that I read was, I think, in the third grade or sometime like that. I tried to remmember why I read her instead of any of the other authors on the shelf.
These days I mostly choose what books I read based on anthologies, awards, and reccomendations from boards like this one. What about the rest of you?

Why isn’t that ever an issue of politics? Because you don’t live in a democracy. You live in a plutocracy. Money rules.

Normally the cover and title does the first bit of attraction, then I read the summary to see if it's interesting. But there are so many books that I've heard of but haven't read, so I seldom read anybooks that I have never heard of beforehand.

Same method as Exonerate and kheegan really. Though some of the better series I have read come from threads in this forum and SB. Thats how I found three of the best fantasy and science fiction novels I ever read. So really looking for myself and keeping an ear out is how I find stuff.

I started way back with things that caught my eye in the library....then after demolishing all 100 or so hardy boys novels in a month I moved onto real books....LotR's was one day of reading and I've been gaining speed ever since....
