Sci-fi/Fantasy Gods
Many Fantasy and a few Sci-fi series/movies/whatevers, have used Gods or God-like entities as a part of their mythos. My question to you all is, do you rate them all on the same level or are they variable? How would you rate the Gods?

Very variable. They range from Herne The Hunted of Discworld to the luminous being Ao reports to; needless to say, one could easily use the two as the two ends of the scale: A God so weak he can do nothing but run from predators, and a God so powerful he orders around Overpowers.Majin Gojira wrote:SO which gods do you think are the most powerful/how would you rate them?

There are the 4 Dark Gods of Chaos.
Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Malal (The Anti-Chaos Chaos god)
There are the 4 C'Tan. Dragon, Outsider, Nightbringer, and Deceiver.
There's Gork and Mork of the Orks.
There's the Laughing god of the Eldar, and Khaine too (though he's in pieces (litererally)).
There's the Emperor of the Imperium.
Hard to rate them from most powerful to least....
But Here's my rough guess interpretation of from power on a scale of 1 to 10. (which I doubt anyone else shares. )
Khorne - 9
Dragon - 9
Gork - 8
Mork - 8
Tzeentch - 8
Nurgle - 7
Outsider - 7
Slaanesh - 6
Nightbringer - 6 (8 Before the Plague)
The Emperor - 6
Deceiver - 5
The Laughing God - 4/5
Malal - 4
Khaine - 4 (8 Before the Fall of the Eldar)

The Firstones are all pretty powerful though they are not omniscient or omnipotent.
The Culture minds are pretty damn powerful and would rank among gods.
And the Martians from Stranger in a Strange Land destroy planets out of "Artistic Necessity" and can send matter into oblivion easier than they can pick it up telepathically.

Slannesh 8, (raw physical strength aside, very cunning and evil, devoured the souls of the Eldar's God's (who may very well have been the enemy of the C'tan, defeated/drew with Khaine in a fight, forcing him into his pieces state.)
Khorne also 8 edging on 9
Tzeencth and Nurgle 7/8
The Laughing God 6 (Able to occasionary trick Slannesh out of his most sought after prize, responsible for the information that led to the destruction of many of the C'Tan, helped arrange the death of one of the mightest of the C'tan.)
Emporer on Goldern Throne 4 off Golden Throne 9/10 This guy was seen as threat to the Chaos God's before full power, if he ever ascended to Full God-Hood, which could happen if they switch of the Golden Throne....
The God of the Dead. Currently 1 Point At full Power 10. He will lead to the rebirth of the Eldar species, and their asscension to the super power once again, kick Slannesh's decadent butt etc.
Khaine, agree with your view point.
Malal I'd up him to 6/7 he was able to oppose the other four single handed but never looked looked likely to do anything else but hold them off.

Re: Sci-fi/Fantasy Gods
Pretty good way to describe The C'Tan (in my opionion) is they are the material universe version of the Chaos Gods. And that if All 4 work together, they have the power to permanently seal off the Warp from the Material universe. The implicatons should be pretty obvious. Dragon is Stated to be the most powerful of them, Deceiver the weakest, and Nightbringer lost much of his power during his hybernation. Outsider not much is known about, other than he's insane (even by their standards), and he hates the Laughing God of the Eldar (who was basicially the cause of his insanity). There were only 6 weapons capable of actually killing the C'Tan. The Talismen of Vaul (Blackstone Fortresses) made by the Eldar (or their god Vaul) before the fall. Deceiver caused the Gothic War specificially to destroy them or place them beyond the reach of the Eldar forever. He succeded with 4 being destroyed, and 2 most likely in the hands of Abaddon (who, as you can see, can be manipulated by Deceiver).Skelron wrote:Well heres my Interpretation of the same events. missing out the C'tan, don't know enough about them.
Slaanesh, as far as I know, is still the Prince of Chaos, and the weakest of the 4 primary gods. That is why I rated him weakest of the Four Chaos gods.Slannesh 8, (raw physical strength aside, very cunning and evil, devoured the souls of the Eldar's God's (who may very well have been the enemy of the C'tan, defeated/drew with Khaine in a fight, forcing him into his pieces state.)
Khorne sounds about right, and I think Nurgle is typicially below Tzeentch, except when Plagues are epidemic, when his power soars to pass even Khornes for a time being.Khorne also 8 edging on 9
Tzeencth and Nurgle 7/8

If It would actually be beneficial to kill the switch to the throne, don't you think they would have done it by now? If he died, he'd probably be devoured by the Chaos Gods, not become one.Emporer on Goldern Throne 4 off Golden Throne 9/10 This guy was seen as threat to the Chaos God's before full power, if he ever ascended to Full God-Hood, which could happen if they switch of the Golden Throne....

Because Malal's not interested in doing anything else. He doesn't seem interested in gaining power in the way the other gods want to, he's most interested in destroying them. I'd say anyone in the Imperium (or even other races) who's a zealous anti-chaos nut is probably under his influence, if not a secret worshiper. I can imagine an inquisitor or two being followers of Malal (best way to destroy the enemy is from the inside...),Khaine, agree with your view point.

Mechanical God
Maybe it's just me, but I'm kinda partial to Nigh (scroll down to the bottom of the page), from the fan-made D&D setting 'Rym'. It's a robot that kills gods. Or anything like a god...or remotely similar to a god...or....

The four Dragon Gods of Palladium are kinda frightening. They are to regular gods what dragons are to regular humans.

True, make Tzzentch 8 and Nurgle 7Grand Admiral Ancaris wrote:Possibly but he did devour all but two of the Eldar God's which must make him a little more powerful, but he's a tugh one to judge, maybe he was extra powerful just after his birth, a sort of explosion of raw power that settled down a bit.Skelron wrote:Slaanesh, as far as I know, is still the Prince of Chaos, and the weakest of the 4 primary gods. When he was placed on it they needed a sign, just after the Horus Heresy to reunite the people. Also it was unsure what would happen, after that it became a state secret, offically only four Inquistor's ever knew the truth, but one disagreed with the GF, and wanted it switched off... Who knows how many he's told it too since then.

It's the new upcoming Eldar God, basically the Infinty circuit's link to make the Eternity Circuit, which is doing the same thing as how Slannesh was born, but this time more controlled, and more powerful. It will signify the rebirth of the Eldar, and their growth once more, and it comes closer with every Eldar death...
I'd agree with you there...Because Malal's not interested in doing anything else. He doesn't seem interested in gaining power in the way the other gods want to, he's most interested in destroying them. Actually, from the IoM's point of view, no one knows what will happen if the GT was switched off. The Sensei & Illuminati believe he would become the Star Child & bring harmony back to the warp...(FRom Realms of Chaos & Slaves to Darkness)If It would actually be beneficial to kill the switch to the throne, don't you think they would have done it by now? If he died, he'd probably be devoured by the Chaos Gods, not become one.
My own personal perspective is that the Emperor has the potential to be more powerful than the Four Chaos gods combined...that is why he was created by the Shaman after all, to destroy Chaos...
He has shown his power when he used his powers to force the four gods from Horus, before he destoyed him...(read the Bill King 'Battle of Terra' short story)
So its my opinion that the Emperor is the Numero Uno God in 40K...make of that what you will...

B5 FO's aren't gods, not by a long shot.
