WH40K Omnibus

Post by dragon »

I picked up the UltraMarines, Space Wolf and Isenhorn (sp) omnibuses. I finished Ultramarines which was not bad, almost done with Space Wolf. I know there are some more omnibuses out there. Are they any good? and what are they called?

The Last Chancers

Blood Angels: The Omnibus

Actually it's easier just to point you to the Black Library site than list them. Then you can browse and look at other novels that interest you.

My fav Omnibuses are the Eisenhorn and Cain Omnibuses. One showing the dark side of the Imperium, the other a much more light hearted side, but both showing a LOT of depth to the wider universe.

BTW if you only read one more, read the above. It's hard to find a better poster child for how screwed up the Imperium can be than following a Penal Legion around.

Sorry for the double post.

Does the Cain omnibus contain any short stories or is it just the first three novels?

It does have short stories, IIRC.

Have a very nice day.

Aren't there two Cain omnibuses? Sould drinkers is a pretty good omnibus, giving the perspective of a persecuted, yet loyal chapter.

There's only one Cain omnibus, but it only contains For the Emperor, Caves of Ice, and The Traitor's Hand.

There is the possibility of a second Cain omnibus later though, as Cain's Last Stand will make another trio (with Death or Glory and Duty Calls).

If you like Eisenhorn you might want to try the two Gaunt's Ghosts omnibuses, by the same author.

I liked Gaunt's ghosts a lot better than the Eisenhorn stuff, other than the first book in the Eisenhorn trilogy, the books just weren't that great imo.

Seconding the reccommendations of Gaunt's Ghosts and Ciaphas Cain.

btw, does anyone know when The Lost is going to come out? I've already got The Founding and The Saint.

It's not scheduled for release at the moment, as far as I know.

IIRC, the final GG paperback is due out next month, so there's still a while yet before they collect them all into an omnibus.

Woah woah woah...Final GG book?
Many thanks! These darned computers always screw me up. I calculated my first death-toll using a hand-cranked adding machine (we actually calculated the average mortality in each city block individually). Ah, those were the days.

You mean Only in Death? It's not the final GG book.

Ghetto Edit: I just realized what i posted wasn't very clear. It seemed like Falkenhayn was asking what GG stood for. Now i realize he was expressing surprise at the "final" part.

Huh. Thought it was. Misread the blurb, then. Last one in the third arc, then.

The book spends most of itself trying to make you THINK it was the last book...just like 'His Last Command' made you think it was over for Gaunt commanding the regument. Abnett's a tricksy hobbitses when it comes to titles. ;)
