Transformers: Armada CCG

Post by David »

Wizards of the Coast, which is owned by Hasbro, will be launching a customizable card game in September. It will be based on the upcomming new tv series Transformers: Armada, and will be targeted toward a new generation of transformers fans. My only problem with it is that it is targeted toward the age group of 6-8 year olds, and is designed to be simplistic. The makers of the new line describe it as easier to play than Pokemon. I'll definitely collect the cards, but I doubt I'll actually play the game. This game will likely run it's course rather fast, as Pokemon is beginning to do. Having no depth to game play is what kills card games. The reason Magic: the Gathering, also made by Wizards of the Coast, has last 10 years is because it appeals to more mature players. Of course, these more mature players also have jobs and, unlike the swarm of kids that play Pokemon, can buy as many cards as their checkbooks allow.
