Ravenor wasn't really about an Inqusitor per se, so much as it was about his retinue (or at least the retinue was as important as Ravenor himself.) And really there wasn't much room to expand Ravenor I think, since he's basically a Bubble Boy with Bolters. It might have worked with the retinue alone as well (kind of like Dark Heresy in that ergard or Mitchells DH novels) but I dont think they focused enough on them for that to work.
Eisenhorn's books also tended to be alot more self contained, even though it had certain recurring elements, whereas Ravenor seems to go with an over-arcing storyline.

Mechanicum has a lot of interesting material in it. If you ever get around to the Horus Heresy series, I would like to read your thoughts on that one.
"Gunslinger indeed. Quick draw, Bob. Quick draw." --Count Chocula
"Unquestionably, Dr. Who is MUCH lighter in tone than WH40K. But then, I could argue the entirety of WWII was much lighter in tone than WH40K." --Broomstick
"This is ridiculous. I look like the Games Workshop version of a Jedi Knight." --Harry Dresden, Changes
"Like...are we canonical?" --Aaron Dembski-Bowden to Dan Abnett

Re: Pick the 40K novel I read next
Horus Heresy is one I'm kinda on two minds on. I'm kinda waiting for it to get alot more bokos otu before I start getting involved, but I AM tempted to start.
The thing is though, at the rate I'm going, it would doubtless be a LONG time before I ever got done with it. What with new books coming out all the time and I have a fair backlog of stuff I haven't yet covered (and more all the time.)
Sometimes I think I reall yneed to pick up the pace with this.

Re: Pick the 40K novel I read next
Well anyhow, its monday, so I'm going to officially "close" this poll. The upcoming book list will go as follows:
Ravenor Returned
Ravenor Rogue
Farseer
Space Marine
Faith and fire (mainyl because I'm terrified of another Ben Counter novel)
Hammer of Daemons (maybe)
And then perhaps some other novel. Those of you who specified other, I would be curious to know which book(s) you wanted to see read. I may give them future consideration if I haven't read them already.
