Atlantis on Earth has a lot of potential.
First you have thousands, probably tens of thousands of people now on Atlantis exploring it and working on everything they find there. If the internal volume equal Manhatten is accurate then you could easily have over 100,000 people working in all areas of Atlantis and not have the place look crowded.
This will of course create issues with the Trust. I do not remember them being completely eliminated anywhere in Season 10 of SG-1.
Characters like Ronan and Teyla could have major issues with the defacto abandoning of the Pegasus galaxy.
The biggest problem is the Ori were wiped away in one of the movies so that is another big bad guy removed. Only the Wraith remain who are starving, fighting each other, and ocassionally getting poisoned by their meals, oh and who are now only a threat in combat when they grab a ZPM and figure out how to connect it. Considering that Todd was the first to pull of this trick in 10,000 years it would be hard to make it believable if it was suddenly repeated a lot. Though I do like Necron's idea of giving them at least part of the Asgard core, though this would require him having access to the Odyssey not the Daedalus.

Gateworld has posted an interview with Executive Robert C. Cooper; he confirms that MGM is geared towards the making of SG1 DTV# 3 and SGA DTV# 1. The holdup is, surprise, the state of the economy and the effect it would have on sales.
