Invasion America

Post by Zor »

I remember seeing snipits of it as a child when Space first hit the canadian Airwaves, but when it was on the air. I have recently found it online and it seems pretty interesting.

The Basic idea is that a Humanoid species of aliens has been for the last 30 years (from 1998) been secretly going about earth preparing for conquest. One of the prominant leaders comes to earth and objects to conquest of Humanity and gets stranded on earth and has a child, which grows up to be the protagonist. On the same note, FBI agents are uncovering things about this alien presence.

Even though i am only half way through, in general it is a pretty well plotted with animation which is somewere between Bruce Timm's DC and the Big Guy and Rusty/Godzilla/Men in Black animated series styles and managed some decent melding of shell shading and CGI, especially for the time although much of the 2d animation is phoned in or of not praticularly high quality. It has a pretty coherent plot with drives behind the charecters which seem respectable. I won't say it is the most original series (manglers are clearly the memetic spawn of Aliens), but it is well execuded. I am not one for conspiracy theory stuff, but this one manages to pull it off likeably enough.

The sad thing about it was that it fell victim to America's animation age ghetto and only thirteen episodes were produced.

Does anyone else remember this show?

I do. I distinctly liked the xenopanthers, and I digged the post-Roswell storylines (or whatever you call the UFOlogist lore). I also digged their spaceships. I don't recall much, though, but yeah. It's pretty sad the show didn't last long.

Hey, that Men in Black amerianimu was pretty cool, dontcha thing? :D

This show was (may still be) available on youtube. I remember this show and last year I found it again on youtube. Brings back some nice memories. Too bad it never finished.

Oh, and remember, orbital bombardment is only bad when some aliens do it to us.

Not only do I remember the miniseries, but I have both BOOKS that were set in the same universe. It was a great read, because you find out that not only was there Cale and his protector, but two whole lifeboats of 'loyalist' defectors from the ship who are mucking about on earth for twenty years.

I am positive that if someone wanted to they could easily turn IA into an episodic, live-action series ala LOST and it would get great ratings.

If nothing else that series did have some sweet alien designs and an awesome opening sequence.

Or we get a reboot of V.

I liked the series and wished that they went longer. They had some nifty ideas, and I liked how they had the eye thing when they greeted each other.

And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks
