Good, glad to see them up and rolling.Principal photography on the second season of Stargate Universe kicks off today, with the cast and crew reassembled at The Bridge Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The show was renewed for a full, 20-episode season late in the fall. Viewers have only seen half of Season One so far, with the back ten set to air beginning April 2.
The producers of SGU promise that the second half of this season will deliver on the things fans are wanting most: aliens, space battles, and a deeper look at the men and women who populate the Destiny. (For much, much more on that, check out Joseph Mallozzi’s very interesting blog posts from late January.)
The season premiere, “Intervention,” promises to start off on the cliffhanger where the two-part season finale, “Incursion,” will leave off. But “Pathogen” — currently slotted fourth in the new season — will shoot first.
Two new staff writers join the production team for Season Two: Remi Aubuchon (Caprica, 24) and Linda McGibney (Homicide: Life on the Street) (story). Paul Mullie and Joseph Mallozzi have also been promoted from consulting producers to executive producers.
Series co-creators Brad Wright, Robert C. Cooper, and executive producer Carl Binder also return.

Re: SGU Season 2 Begins Filming
Finally. Why did they wait so long until airing the second half of season one, was it because they hadn't been renewed for another season?
Re: SGU Season 2 Begins Filming
They probably waited because SyFy has a limited amount of new programming and they do not want to overlap brand new shows run the risk of having large blocks of the year with nothing new at all to draw attention. I dont know how muc longer Caprica is going, but I could imagine it ending in March and doing its own Season 1.5 some time in late summer early fall when SGU 1.5 ends.

And whilst we're on the subject...
Another trailer for the second half of season 1

MGM have done a good job with that, it looks like a faster pacde and erring slightly more to traditional SG second half to the season.
Oh and Spoiler

You know, if it wasn't a Stargate property I doubt they would have gotten away with putting all of the action and pay off into the second half of a split season.
That said, I'm thrilled we finally get to see some cool stuff.

A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.
At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.
The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'
'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'
