Space Marine/Gothic War now available on BL website

Post by Dartzap »

For those of us who didnt feel like spending a hundered quid on an ancient copy of Space Marine, Black Library have decided to make Space Marine, The Gothic War Duolgy and Insignium Astartes available - though in a very strange way...

Black Libary On Demand Service
ll titles published under our Print on Demand service are exclusive to the Black Library and represent some of the most popular titles from our extensive back catalogue. Whenever you purchase a Print on Demand title an order is placed with our printers to produce a single copy of that book which is then shipped directly to you. All of the novels, omnibus editions and anthologies in our Print on Demand range are Trade Paperback format which is larger than the format of the regular Black Library paperbacks and is roughly equivalent to the size of one of our standard hardbacks. Art and background books are published at various sizes and may not be in the same format as they originally appeared as part of the Black Library main range.
Well, theres something to get come pay day next week :)

Why the hell not just make it available as an ebook?

Various black library guys have posted at one point or another that they don't really like the concept of E-books.

More likely the shiny shoes at GW HQ had a heart attack at the idea.

Also worth noting for the 40k nerds is that Space Marine is part of the Heretic Tomes line, in other words, canon levels has arrived.

Then again, barely restrained homoeroticism, Biffing, augury via excrement and Groin daemons are things I can live without.

While I can understand why you would do this for Warhammer 40,000, that is pretty lame.
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

Which will last as long as the next 40K author (I'm looking at you McNeill) writes another book, or they need to pull some obscure refrence from earlier fluff to pad out the current codex lines. :P I've grown to distrust any consistency in the terminology of "canon" - nevermind the quasi-religious connotations. I'll stick with "most commonly indicated" viewpoints as being the likely ones. Repetition is its own canon.

Hey I thougth Space Marine was Funny. It's probably one of my favroite Ian Watson stories next to Warped Stars.

And who wouldn't like a Space Marine named "Biff?"

It's already confused; Vladimir Pugh, Chief Librarian Franz Grenstein and Chaplain Lo Chang are all in the Index Astartes article for Imperial Fists, and Lexandro d'Arquebus is in Chaos Child, book three of the Inquisition War trilogy.

The Index Astartes article even quotes directly from one of the characters in Space Marine: "Do we bemoan such losses? No! We are the Fists! We do not need to hibernate or spit venom. We crush our enemies." although it re-attributes the quote.
"So you want to live on a planet?"
"No. I think I'd find it a bit small and wierd."
"Aren't they dangerous? Don't they get hit by stuff?"
