it appears to act as a rebreather as those under protection of a force shield/force wall are uneffected by poison gas attacks, including ships with bad air, underground gas pockets, even sea water.

That would depend on a lot of things? How competent are the generals? How much time does each side have to prepare and how much knowledge do they have of the other side?
Sorry for the long response time :oops: but I'm thinking a Battle of Carthage senario, with Scipio Africanus as the General, and for more leeway I'll make it two legions, since a full Roman legion consists of about five thousand men I think :?: ,anyway both armies have known about each other for at least a week and the Romans are the attackers.

Who will win? Minbari on the ground or Japanese Samurai, most probably the Shinsengumi.
