So the Horus Heresy brought us some likeable Space Marines like noble, straight as an arrow Loken, Torgaddon the joker, modest Saul Tarvitz, badasses like Nathaniel Garro or Skraal, staunchy loyal Mhotep, old Iacton Qruze,... Which one is your favorite Space Marine?
My personal favorite must be Solomon Demeter (Emperor's Children). A go-against-the-flow type of character and without the typical air of arrogence and cockyness compared to most of his Legion. His story is also much of a tragedy, where he gets increasingly marginalized by his former friends, an the way he died was the antithesis of a hero's death.
That said, I would love to read more about Ehrlen, the World Eaters captain who charged Angron head on while Tarvitz ran the fuck away.
Non Space Marine, I kinda liked that spy in Legion. Poor guy, he really loved that gal.

I have many.
My favorite would have to be Garviel Loken. He's the one who got me hooked up on those books.
Some of my other favorite would be the primarchs, I just love to just read about them, its like getting to know super being on a personal level, of course my favorite is Horus himself, they really did an awesome job of making him believably supernatural, yet amazingly human.
A novel that really made me like the supporting people of the 40k universe, is Nemesis, the whole assassin team was just sheer pleasure to read.
The most touching over all for me would be Magnus, far more then Horus he was played like a puppet, and betrayed from just about everyone, from beginning to end. It is the most tragic of them all when you think about it, for his utmost wish was to simply prevent it all.

Re: [40K]Which is your favorite Horus Heresy hero?
I have to say that, while having only read two HH books (Nemesis and Flight of the Eisenstein), my favorite Astartes character is probably Garro.
Non-Astartes, I'd say that I really liked the Culexus Assassin, Iota, and the Eversor, "The Garantine", in Nemesis. Iota was somewhat of an interesting read; it's like she never cared about what was done to her, she just did what she did because of what she was. In contrast, I liked the Garantine because of the sheer hilarity he represents in the story (IMO, of course); his obsession with weapons and killing is pulled of very well, and my favorite scene of his is probably when the weapons are being handed out and the Garantine goes of to his bunk smiling, with an armful of guns, grenades, and blades.
Other than that, I really don't have any; OTOH, as I noted above I've only read 2 HH books......so far.

Garro. I listened to his audio stories. Dude is super badass.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Captain Nathaniel Garro, formerly of the Fourteenth Legion, and most likely a founding member of the Holy Inquisition. Common aliases include he-who-makes-the-Primarchs-look-like-pussies, and "not you, Dark Gods, not y-aarghgk"
Not that the other Space Marines and mortals don;t behave heroically, and I felt truly sorry for Magnus the Red while reading A Thousand Sons. But Garro is ridiculously badass, and I love him for it. He was killing Daemons before the Imperium would acknowledge the existence of Daemons, and stared down a furious Primarch that sincerely wanted to kill him.

For some reason, the Lord of the Gal Vorbak, Argel Tal, really appeals. If he hadn't been a Word Bearer, he would probably have been a Loyalist through and through; however he is damned because he was in the wrong Legion at the wrong time.
I know there is a method, but all I see is the madness.
