And now for some pulpy fun...
Today, a set of flashes happen around the world and with them appear a multitude of strange machines and vehicles in rural areas around the world that look like from pulp science fiction. This is followed shortly by a message from a council of Twenty beings, which announce using American accented but grandiose, over the top and quite hammy mad-scientist voices that they are human brains in life support systems calling themselves the Masterminds. Each one is from a Leading scientist from an alternate Dimension that engaged in a inter-dimensional transition from a parallel world to ours. They see this world as being inefficiently run, and would be better off if our world was ruled by their Logical Scientific dominion and eventually remade into a new mechanical race. To exert this will over the world, they have brought forth a mighty mechanical force, the Atomic Legion.
The Forces of the Atomic Legion are as such...
Infantry
Atomic Legionaries: The Basic Robotic Soldier of the Atomic Legionary, a chrome art deco styled humanoid figure two meters tall and weigh 300 kilograms. Each Atomic Legionary has five times the strength of a human being and comparable reflexes and reaction times, but have built in communication systems and night vision. Atomic Legionaries can run at up to 45 kilometers per hour. They are powered by Atomic Batteries that typically last a month. Atomic Legionaries are mostly armoured against most assault rifles, though their joints , upper and legs and optics are vulnerable and sustained fire can bring them down and fire from an M2 Machine gun will reliably get through. Atomic Legionaries also serve support and maintenance roles. Atomic Legionaries can speak to give orders, but have limited intelligence outside of combat.
Most Atomic Legionaries are armed with Gamma Ray Blasters: energy rifles that shoot coherent gamma ray beams, either shooting ten megajoule blasts every two seconds or five blasts a second rated at one megajoule. Power is. These have a camera built in where the scope would be on a conventional human rifle. These draw power through the hands, as well as having external batteries which last for 100 full power shots. They also carry an Gamma Ray Pistol, which fires a five megajoule shot every second and has a power cell good for 30 shots, as well as M2 grenade. One in ten atomic Legionaries is armed with a Hyper-Bazooka (a rocket launcher that is similar to a super Bazooka in appearance, but comparable to a modern RPG in terms of fire power) in place of a Blaster and another one in ten is armed with an Gamma Ray Repeater, which can fire off five shots a second of five megajoules with a backpack power cell good for 5000 shots but weighs twenty kilos. One in a hundred carries a M1 mortar and another one carries a Davy Crockett with two rounds.
Nuclear Centurions: Nuclear Centurions are broader built humanoids weighing 500 kilograms and are unlike regular infantry not robots, but cyborgs having a living brain inside them. Centurions act as commanders to infantry, generally commanding a hundred of them. Each of their arms has a built in Gamma Ray Blaster and they have a shoulder mounted Ultra-Bazooka.
Auxiliaries-Axillaries will arise shortly, men and women who fight along the Atomic Legion. Each Auxiliary soldier is given an art deco uniform, complete with a breastplate and helmet that offers comparable protection to modern body armour and a Gamma Ray Blaster, Pistol, bayonet and about one in thirty will have an ultra-bazooka. Auxiliaries are either volunteers, or are cyborgs with loyalty systems installed in there head.
Airpower
Atomic Rocketeers: Atomic Legionaries given specially designed (despite the name) anti-gravity harnesses. These allow them to stay in the air for up to four hours, has a maximum altitude of one kilometer and a maximum speed of 100kps. Each one has a gamma ray repeater to deal with infantry on the ground.
Nuclear Phoenix Fighter/Bombers: bearing a resemblance to a Granit Missile with lengthened wings, the Nuclear Phoenix is the main offensive aircraft of the Atomic Legion. It is comparable in speed and maneuverability to the F-18 and is armed with a four gamma repeaters and eight missiles. For anti-aircraft missiles comparable in performance to sidewinders and four ground support missiles carrying 0.25 kiloton warheads.
Flying Saucers-The Main Air Transport of the Legion, the Flying Saucer is 50 meters in diameter and is armed with two heavy gamma ray cannons (one on top, one on the bottom), each capable of firing five 50 megajoule shots or 50 5 megajoule shots off a second. The Flying saucer has the equivalent to 35cm of steel armor all around. Each one is operated by a cybernetic brain. The maximum speed of a Flying saucer is about 200 kilometers per hour, is VTOL capable and it has a ceiling of about 2 kilometers. Each saucer can carry up to 300 tonnes of cargo, or four fully loaded tanks or eight hundred atomic legionaries.
Space
Athena Satellites: A set of sixteen satellites in geosync orbit armed with gamma ray lasers, their specific purpose is simple, shoot down any ICBM.
Armour
Nucleon Recon Vehicle: A Nuclear Jeep, generally has an gamma ray repeater for defense and AA support or be left without passenger compartment and carry two AA missiles comparable to sea sparrows.
Argo Supply Truck: An unarmed automated nuclear powered supply truck, 10 tonne capacity, max speed of 200 km/h on road.
Cougar Atomic Tank (CAT): The Cougar Atomic Tank is Comparable to the M60 Patton Tank in most characteristics and appearance, save for a few. One it’s a fully functional robot. Two it has a 1000 horsepower atomic engine. Three the Cougar has Gamma Ray Repeaters in place of. Four the Kodiak’s main gun is a linier accelerator that launches projectiles at 2km/s and each Cougar has at least one nuclear shell rated at 100 tonnes.
Think Tank: What the Nuclear Centurion to the Legion’s infantry the Think Tank is to the Legion’s Tank Forces. Each Think tank is commanded by a brain in a jar and carries twelve AA missiles comparable to sidewinders on external box launchers
Neutron Troop Carrier: An Automated Atomic APC, the Neutron has 30cm of armor all around, has a top speed of 60km/h, has a turreted Gamma Ray Repeater for support and carries ten Legionaries into the heat of battle.
Proton Assault Howitzer: A 35 tonne turretless armoured box carrying a M2 Howitzer with 40mm armor capable of speeds up to 40km/h.
Seapower
Atomic Marines: Atomic Marines are a modified version of the Atomic Legionary, painted dull green with extra plastic coverings. Atomic Marines have a backpack with two props allowing them to easily manoeuvre under water at speeds up to fifteen kilometers per hour and remain active at depths up to 300 meters. Atomic Marines are armed with comparable weapons to Atomic Legionaries, but also carry 10 kilogram demolition charges to deal with ships.
Battleshark Assault Submarine: A Submarine comparable in size and general performance to a Russian Akula Attack Sub. Its torpedoes are of comparable performance as projectiles, but all have a 0.25 kiloton nuclear warhead to make sure. Operated by a Brain in a Jar and maintenance robots, Battlesharks also carry sixty marines in general storage for amphibious operations. There are fifty battlesharks patrolling the waves.
Bases
Atomic Citadel: There are twenty Citadels, each one a dome shaped structure 300 meters in diameter and 100 meters across with a number of support buildings around it. Each one is commanded by a Mastermind. Inside and underneath this structure is an automated factory capable of building all the Atomic Legion’s forces as well as warehouses full of them. Each Atomic citadel has the following…
• 50,000 Atomic Legionaries (among them 1,000 rocketeers)
• 10,000 Atomic Marines
• 5,000 Nuclear Centurions
• 5,000 Nucleons (500 Anti-Aircraft)
• 5,000 Argos
• 250 Cougar Assault Tanks
• 500 Neutron Troop Carriers
• 150 Proton Howitzers
• 40 Think Tanks
• 75 Nuclear Phoenixes
• 15 Flying Saucers
And they can each assemble new ones at the following speed
• 500 small arms units per day
• Fifty legionaries or marines per day
• Fifty Reprogrammed Auxiliaries per day
• Ten centurions per day (leaving aside the Human Components)
• Ten Flight packs per day
• Ten Argos or Nucleons per day
• One Neutron or Proton per Day
• One CAT every two days
• One Think Tank every four Days
• One Nuclear Phoenix every two weeks
• One flying saucer every two months
• Ammunition and spare parts
Each one has a set of thirty gamma ray cannons for anti-aircraft work on the perimeter and to provide some protection against nuclear strike. They also have a 50 megaton nuclear self-destruct in case some wants to take them. They are located in the following locations…
Alberta, Northern Texas, Oregon, Upstate New York, Scotland, Portugal, Lodz Province (Poland), Rivne Oblast (Ukraine), Omsk Oblast (Russia), Amur Oblast (Russia), Al Muthanna Governorate (Iraq), Rajasthan (India), Sichuan Province, Xi’an Province, Buenos Aires Province, Limpopo Province (South Africa), Al Kufrah District (Lybia), Nyanza Province (Kenya), Nghe An Province (Vietnam), Northern Antioquia (Colombia) , Coastal West Australia.
Submarine Pens: Bases located on remote sections of coastline, automated factories with two drydocks each capable of repairing or building a battle shark (doing so takes a year). Each has 500 marines, 5 CATs and six Centurions to oversee it. There are 10 of them, six in coastal Antarctica, two on the northern coast of Russia, one on Baffin Island and three.
They immediately begin moving their forces out to bring humanity under their control. The Transition was a one way affair and though they won't admit it, this represents all of what they could send over. If it is defeated, the Atomic Legion shall no longer menace mankind on this planet.
Can the World Resist, or will the Masterminds seize control? And what do you do?

Re: The Mechanical Menace of the Masterminds! (RAR!)
These forces look awfully infantry-heavy. They have little tanks and combat aircraft, and totally lack long range air to air and ground to air weapons. They would not be able to engage all of modern human strategic bombers from the ground, and most of the fighters too. And in the air, they have only 75 F-18 equivalents per base limited to cannon equivalents and sidewinder equivalents. With these numbers and limitations, they would be easily picked off by medium to long range missiles from human ground AA and fighters.
Their infantry lack long range anti armor firepower like ATGM's or at least recoilless guns, which means that human armor is pretty safe as long as it doesn't concentrate too much and has infantry support.
Their artillery is laughable - M2 Howitzers are 105mm howitzers build during the WW2, which means their accuracy, range and firepower is poor compared to today's popular 155mm SPG's.
Their only real advantage lies in very durable infantry. They would need this durability very much, because with human complete air superiority (few fighters and not even medium range guided AA missiles) they will have to endure lots and lots of airstrikes. And artillery strikes too, considering how outranged and outgunned are they in this department.
They also have very centralized infractructure (20+10 bases) which makes strikes with nuclear artillery and cruise missiles very feasible to cripple them.
Sea bases - no AA defenses at all, bomb them. And as they have no self destruct, capture what's left then.
Sattelites? Only 16 of them, can they self-defend? Because if they can't do it very well, some nations can destroy satellites since a few decades. And then the ICBM's come.
Of course in the third world countries (especially african ones, as they are far away from the first world ones) situation gets worse, until the first and second world deal with their own problems and can send proper forces. Bases in Europe get devastated by european NATO and Russia, in North America by USA, and in Asia by China and India.

While I agree with CBG's assessment, I voted FISH!.
Though I must ask, just why is the option to vote "FISH!" available?

"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'
