The Emperor's Children Show Up Tomorrow

Tomorrow, an English voice with an odd accent says these words on every radio and TV channel on a continuous loop.

'This is the Primarch Fulgrim of the Emperor's Children Astartes Legion, representing the Warmaster Horus and the Emperor of Mankind. Negotiations regarding your integration into the Imperium of Man will begin shortly. Compliance to the Imperial Truth is also required of you.'

A few minutes later, astronomers discover the source of the transmissions - a massive spaceship in high orbit surrounded by countless others.

Yes, real life Earth has been teleported to the 40K galaxy during the Great Crusade, well before any of the Primarchs (except Lorgar) became corrupted. It is after Ullanor. Nothing has happened to Games Workshop or Black Library.

What happens next? How do people react?

Uh, the Astartes show up? Some people try to fight them and get gibbed? A few nations try throwing nukes around and get pulverized from orbit?

Sure, we might take a few of them down with us, but honestly against a pre-Heresy force of the Legiones Astartes and their fleet, we're fucked. And since we're in 30K right before the Heresy happens, we're gonna have a really fun time...

Alternatively: Some bright boy packs a book full of GW codexes and HH novels and mails them to Fulgrim. He (or someone) pokes through them, goes "hmm, this is pretty similar to what's been going on" and starts wondering. They then promptly walk off a cliff courtesy of Tzeentch. Like it or not, the Heresy is happening... the only thing that'll really stop it is the Emperor coming out of the Palace and telling his boys what's going on and spreading a little fatherly love.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

The Dark Angels short story in Tales of heresy was, in my opinion, the author's idea of the same happening with the Dark Angels, and would probably be reasonably accurate.

Fulgrim decides this seems to be a fairly decent world, no Xenos interference, no real mutation. He attempts to make diplomatic contact, confident he can sway the opinions of the planetary rulers with his charisma.

The people are frightened of the armoured monsters they see before them, but are yet unsure of to fight or flee. Fulgrim sees no real difference between the rulers of Iran or America. Both must accept the Emperor(belovedbyall)'s secular truth and abandon the false promises of religion.

This goes well nowhere, but especially in the more religious countries. Fulgrim has their cities annihilated and their leaders hunted down and killed. Depending on what kind of scared the world is, we either fall in line or rebel, possibly both.

Fulgrim annihilates as required, then moves on to let the Imperial Army and Iterators mop up.

A month at most.

Lots of people get killed by religious extremists.

So... not much different to now, only America isn't safe anymore.

Well, those books contain the fact that he's going to be possessed by an evil demon that tortures him for at least ten thousand years with that in mind, when he reaches that planet, he'd probably hit it with Cyclonic Torpedos, and then report the whole thing to the Emperor.

Fulgrim personally, doesn't fall, in the end, but is possessed.

The world governments pay Games Workshop a crap ton of money to retcon all their 40K material. They change it so that instead of space marines we get MLP characters that also happen to have a cure to every disease in existence. Let’s just dues ex machine the shit out of this for economic gain!!

Well, I think we all bend over and kiss our asses goodbye. It's far from certain that the Children would stumble over 40k materials. And if they did, they'd be more likely to assume them to ba a bizzare coincidence, propaganda, or a very subtle ploy by some sort of xenos, possibly Eldar than to believe that it is a complete and literal account of future events.

The marines might not notice, but the Iterators and Remembrancers are sure as fuck going to notice. That's no coincidence. Look at it.

We wouldn't be the first planet to wrongfully claim to be Terra tough (Horus Rising)

I wouldn't want to live in the US, that's for sure. A world power that wouldn't like to give up its power combined with a very high number of religious people? If/when they try to resist, prepare for some collective punishment by the astartes.

If Caliban is any indication for imperial compliance, the rest of the world doesn't fair much better as well. Unless you hate nature, like living in a hive or being put to hard work to support the imperial war machine. (see Fallen Angels).

But hey, at least we weren't discovered by World Eaters.

I feel the current Italian governement will try and resist, then the newly-installed military governement surrenders and asks for a definition of the Imperial Truth. And millions of Italians will die trying to defend their religion.

The planet gets butchered overnight when Fulgrim finds out that a son of the God-Emperor appeared here and we nailed him to a tree.

I see no reason to assume Fulgrim wouldn't just assume Jesus was another false god.
